The Mirror of Zen

The Sutra teaching transmits only the dharma of One
Mind, while Zen meditation transmits only the dharma
of seeing one's true nature.

Gatha

Seeing layer upon layer of mountains and
flowing streems
Is itself my clear and bright original home.

Commentary

Mind can be likend to a bright mirror's clear substance, while
our true nature is like the mirror's reflective clarity. Our true nature
is already pure and clear , as it is. The moment you attain
enlightenment, you simply attain your original mind.
This emphasizes the importance of attaining moment-mind.
