This is the first time I created a more visual approach to the table of contents. By now you may have already noticed that the images correspond to the correct answer of the koans. What do you think about this approach? Is it worth all the trouble to make this?

All images were made by me using preexisting background image sources.

Background Image Sources:

This looks really great. Even Lao Tzu would be proud of you, it simply matches his, "The more machines there are, the more calamities there are."

Thanks! I'm glad you like it! Coming from someone who has constantly commented and resteemed the series, it really means a lot! It's always a victory whenever Lao Tzu is proud of me :D

Ah this is super! I've got the others up in my browser, I'm going to slide this one next to them. Still behind, but thanks for making an easy way to find all the koans!

Woohoo! I'm glad you like it, my friend :D In any case, this is just an index to everything so that you wouldn't need to have all those tabs opened up. I know how a nightmare they could be. I'm trying to see if I could code up a "Read" flag to indicate the link has already been clicked. Man, that would be a helpful feature for Steemit. I appreciate you dropping by despite your busy schedule! :D

They do grey out comments that have been read so that doing something similar for actual posts shouldn't be a stretch. Keep me posted on how you progress with it!

Indexes are a wonder to behold. Very helpful. Though, I know well that they can also be tedious. But, you're making it fun. Yours are always different. :P

The greyed out comments are actually local for your browser. If you use another browser or if you clear your history, it won't be grayed out anymore :(

I try to make them fun and not monotonous, so I'm happy the effort is recognized! :D

Got ya. Welp. Now we all know I'm behind in clearing my browser cache. HAHA.

You're succeeding in making them fun. Whereas, I'm like: here's a hyperlink. :')

Haha! That won't always be the case. Sometimes I feel like a hyperlink is enough. Doesn't make a whole lot of difference in getting views and comments anyway haha

True dat! So we do it for our inner graphic designers

Yes! If anything, it's just to satisfy our own itch to make our posts as perfect as can be haha!

Wow - this looks really, really cool, and I love that the pictures match the koan of the day. I think this was definitely worth doing - although it looks like it must have taken ages!

I love it. :)

It did take quite some time to do haha! Personally, I think it's worth it, though I'm not sure how sustainable it would be to do. It was a fun experiment for sure, and it's great knowing that one of the winners appreciated it :D

It's a very pretty table of contents :) If you can be bothered then I think it's worth doing, if you can't then text one is still better than not having one at all XD

It took quite some time to do, but once I found a rhythm it became rather easy. If it won't have the reception I'm hoping for, it was a good exercise but I'm going to go back to the text version. I'm glad you like it though, mate! :D

I agree, it's pretty. I don't know how much time you spent doing it. I have to admit, when I read a comic book, a barely glance at the pictures, I just read the words, so I am not your target audience for a visual feast.

Seriously? Haha! Comics should be read with 50% pictures in mind haha! I guess you're just more of a words guy. No wonder you don't like using pictures in your posts haha! That's a cool pathological discovery.

It took quite some time to make, so if it won't have the reception I hoped for, I'll just chalk it up to a great exercise but won't be repeating it again in the future.

Ya. It seems like it would take a while. I'd feel like it probably wasn't the most efficient return on investment.

What would take a while? If you're referring to the time I spent doing this, then we may just have different standards of measurement.

Eh? Yes, you said

"It took quite some time to make, so if it won't have the reception I hoped for, I'll just chalk it up to a great exercise but won't be repeating it again in the future."

And I was sympathizing: if it took a lot of time to make, and it didn't increase responsiveness, and you did it TO increase responsiveness (not just because you enjoy doing it), then it's not a particularly efficient way to spend your limited time...

As I said, different measurements. "Reception" doesn't always mean "increased responsiveness." It could be the quality of the responses or whatever, but the fact is I never disclosed it and it's all subjective for me.

I like the visual approach. It may just be because I am a visual person. But I like it. It kind of makes it alive, just takes longer to scroll down. But the images correspond to the content right? Just checking 😀 😃 😄 😁 😆

Yes, it does correspond to content. Great! I'm glad visual people appreciates it. The loading time is dependent on the internet connection. The images are already cached by steemimages, so there's nothing more I can do to help hasten the loading. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I work from starbucks so the load pretty fast.

Great! Thank you Starbucks haha!

I think this look is quite awesome. Very good. I can imagine it taking a while in a traditional program. On an android device minute tips each one!! Just in case you decide to do it more often :0D

I was surprised when I saw the koan! I thought the last week might have been a dream!!

30+ images does seem to be overkill. Maybe I could just use this again if I do another short series. A minute for just one image is no bueno.

Oh but it is! You now have two children, dude. That's one more children than last week!!

I think it's good though, much better than a boring list of text links!!

Way more harder to do and much more time consuming though haha! I'm just happy I was able to see it in the flesh. For other TOCs that would be this long, I might have to stick with boring text links next time haha! I'm enjoying this while it still hasn't paid out. It does look pretty!

I know!!! When you/If you do a series like this again make I've of those looks as part of the post. Like a header and then that are all ready made!! Can you tell I like em?

That's a big if, dude haha! But, that's actually a really good idea!! Recycling it to cut the time dramatically. I like it! The Wisdom of Boom for the win again! I'm extremely glad you like 'em, duderino. It's an offshoot of what you do, so one might say that you are the godfather of these images.

Lol, any old shortcut that helps!! :0D

I shall treasure my Godfatheryness and bathe in its sublime glow.

Don't bathe too long though or risk saggy skin!! We don't want you looking like an albino raisin now, do we? Do we!? Hmm.. every time I keep asking that question, I'm convincing myself that we do more and more.

this post is so amazing, I'm so inspired to keep working hard on steem.

Can't wait to see the result. Hoping to be a winner

Hey, uh, so, first of all, thank you for sending in an entry. If you would take the time to look at the links, I've already announced the winners a few days ago. Unfortunately, yours didn't make it, but that's not in any way your fault. It's just that there were only three winners. I appreciate you taking the time to submit an entry though!
