Valuing time

Yesterday morning I had an appointment with someone at 8.30 am. The person was supposed to come home for some work. Normally I do not like to have such early meetings in the morning as I wake up by around 7.30 to 8 and then immediately after that meeting someone is not very convenient for me. Also I do not like to speak much in the morning time for the first one hour on waking up, but since the person insisted that she had time constraint I was ok. I woke up early and got ready to meet her.

It was 8.30 and she had yet not come, I thought she must be late and waited for 10 minutes, yet no news of her. So, then I messaged her and very casually she told me that she will come at 11. She was not even apologetic or said anything about missing the timing and I was really thinking to myself, what type of people are there. I told her not to come at 11 because I also had planned my day accordingly and at that time I had some other work.

I was really pissed off that she had no value for the time and not even the realization that she had wasted my time. I am very particular about time management, if someone has given a time to me, I make sure that I am on time or even before time. These are little things of life where your discipline shows very clearly even without you saying or doing anything. It also shows how you value other people's time. At my home, even my son is always late and I keep telling him, this is not the right habit. Even if you are in a position of power then too you must respect other people's time and keep up to any commitment made, because that not only shows how you value other's time but it also develops a mutual respect between 2 people.
