If you ever wanted to know what else is happening on the Steem blockchain besides steemit.com you need to check out this website build by user @noisy called Steemprojects.com.
Here you will find almost any project that is currently being developed on the Steem blockchain.
All the big projects are there, like busy.org, dtube, dlive, and Esteem.
But also smaller projects like Steemify for instance.
It's a fantastic overview and clearly shows that Steemit.com is just one app on the Steem blockchain besides many.
I recommend that you check out steemprojects.com.
Many new users think that the only way to earn STEEM is through blogging.
But that's not the case.
For instance: Utopian.io.
It's a website that rewards Open Source Contributors with STEEM.
It recently got a new update here.
Contributing to open source project is just another way of earning STEEM besides blogging.
They also have moderators that get rewarded in STEEM.
And all the rewards are frictionless, it does not cost anyone anything.

I've paid out well over a thousand Steem to other bloggers for transcription services, video editing, graphics work, searching for a supplier and I will be looking to hire a writer soon to collaborate on our Trading Cards project.
Not to mention that I've paid out hundreds of Steem for winning entries in my #mundameart virtual galleries.
I even paid someone in SBD for helping me to strip the wax off of a floor.
All of this work has been well documented in my blog articles and it's very exciting to see a Steem economy growing!
The idea is to create and spend the Steem. In this way we spread the wealth, the success and we prove that Steem is the best currency in crypto! Let's stack it while we can but let's not forget to spend it. Especially on quality minds and goods!

I want to bring what you are doing out to the physical community. so not only can people earn steem online but in class or at the store and they can spend that steem on classes and produce. With what you are doing I am sure it is attainable in the future as the ecosystem grows.
I paid someone to make the logo I use for all my posts with SBD and @blockbrothers pays for most of our expenses (servers) with SBD's as well but you seem to do way more! That's so cool. Thanks for your reply.

SMT is also a game changer in STEEMIT, it allows people to create their own businesses, therefore it's good for steem token that it will become a basic needs to all app.
After seeing your post, I looked at the SMT page, and put myself on the mailing list.

No, there are many ways one can contribute. It's not all coding related. go check it out, it's cool!
Yea I have always thought blogging was the only way to earn steem but it's by far the slowest way with the current Price of steem.
Participating in contests where steem is the price is also another way. I don't really know much about Utopian io but since you made mention of it, I will check them out now.
Talking about steemit.com , why is it the most popular website for Steemit? We have the likes of busy.org, mspsteem etc but they are not as populate as steemit.com. was steemit.com the vey first wbesite that was created for Steemit?
Honestly my question too? Was steemit the first or.. Maybe the pioneer of the ideology by which these all function. We really are part and success of the fact that steemit is seemingly more popular, very likely also has the most users.. But we are asking, does anyone have an idea as to why?

After the Steem blockchain was built. Steemit.com was the first app build on top of it. Now there are many more.
I believe, that this is a quality of project which every Steem idea deserve :) What makes Steem project amazing as it is today is our ability to create value from nothing and give back to those that have no money to buy in. No other blockchain gives as much to those that did not buy in which is why we will be the best platform of all soon. I think that using steem projects being under one roof helps to add value to our entire community which is very likely to increase the price. And the best thing about Steem project is that anyone can use it.
All thses are wonderful projects in the steem blockchain. I'm honoured to be a follower of @exyle... I have finally launched my project (@steemmusicng, online and offline musical promotion of STEEMIT). Thanks for all your support and for always visiting my blog. I'm greatly honored.
