제 6장 의정

샘솟는 의정

주인공에 일임하고 가다 보면 어느 때 의정이 떠오른다. 주인공이라는 이름에서 의정이 나오는 게 아니라 불현듯 내면으로부터 의정이 나오게 된다. 도대체 어떻게 해서 이렇게 할 수 있는가? 어떻게 해서 이렇게 돌아가는가? 이렇게 와 닿는게 있는데 왜 둘이 아니라 하는가? 왜 모든 게 비었다고 하는가? 왜 내가 하느 게 아니라 참 나가 한다고 하는가? 별의별 의정이 다 나온다.
주인공 하나만 쥐고 가다 보면 의정이 저절로 나온다. 이것이 진짜 의정이요 대의정이다. 새롭게 샘솟는 의정이다. 일부러 지은 의정은 빈 맷돌을 돌리는 격으로 아무런 맛도 없이 스스로 곤고할 뿐이다. 일부러 지은 의정과 절로 일어나는 겟은 천지치이로 다르다.

Chapter 6 Rituals

Rituals spring to mind

As you work on your protagonist, a ritual will come to you at some point. It doesn't come from the name of the protagonist, but it comes from within. How on earth can I do this? How does it work like this? If there are things that touch like this, why not two? Why is everything empty? Why do I say that I am not God, but I am the one? All sorts of rituals come out.
If you hold only one protagonist, the story will come out by itself. This is the real righteousness and the great righteousness. It is a newly sprung ritual. Rituals made on purpose are like turning an empty millstone, tasteless and self-defeating. The difference between a deliberate ritual and a ritual that occurs spontaneously is worlds apart.
