제 6장 의정

샘솟는 의정

본래로 뚫린 구멍을 막아 놓고서는 이 뭣고?' 하려는가. 번연히 박카스 병인 줄 알면서이 뭣고?' 하면 거기서 무엇이 나오겠는가. 아는 것은 아는 대로 놓아 버려라. 화두란 방편에 불과한 것인데 아는 것을 다시 들고서 `이 뭣고?' 한다면 머리만 복잡해질 뿐이다. 놓고 가다 보면 정말로 모르는 것. 무위법의 의정이 나온다.
< 씨가 이미 싹을 틔워 나무로 자라고 있는데 어디 가서 예전 씨를 찾으려는가? 어디 가서 예전 씨의 능력을 달라고 하는가?>

The Rite of Springing

If you plug the hole that was originally opened and then say, "What is this?" or if you ask, "What is this?" thinking that it is a bottle of bacchus, what will come out of it? Let go of what you know as you know it. A topic is just a method, but if you pick up what you know and ask, "What is this?" it will only complicate your head. If you let go, you don't really know. <When a seed has already sprouted and grown into a tree, where do you go to look for the old seed? Where do you ask for the old seed's power?
