I've always found the Brazilian league season so confusing. You've qualified and does that mean that the 2nd half of the season now starts? I should look it up really and try harder to understand it!
Hey friend, what a great comment! It's actually not intuitive at all... The Brazilian and Latin American football calendar starts and ends along with the year, so there's already this discompass with the european calendar. However, the main thing is that there's a huge history of local State Championships throughout the twenty-four states of Brazil, doing to our country being so big. Because of it, the Estaduais were really important during the last century, and continue to be the main competitions in the start of each year for the Brazilian squads. I think the Brazilian league as it is nowadays, the Brasileirão, has been like this for around thirty something years, and it only starts in April/May.

Does the local championship determine if you play in the Brasileirao?
