CLASSIFICADOS! // LetsGoCoringation // TheWorldOfSports
Greetings, Coringation travelers!!
I've fortunately and unfortunately have been a lot more occupied on work, so my Coringation diaries have continued to be a bit late.
Today's post is special because it not only tells the story of our tie in the classic against Palmeiras and the win against São Bernardo, but also commemorates the official qualifying of our team to the next phase in Paulistão and eternalizes the jersey number change for our star Rodrigo Garro; a Garro la Ocho.
CLASSIFICADOS is the plural version of the adjective in Portuguese that refers to a group of people that has been qualified. And our coringation boys are!
The game against our green rivals was really difficult, specially in their home field. We took the first game of the match in the start of the first half, but we were able to equalize at the end of it with Yuri Alberto. He kicked the opposing team's flag and got a free yellow card.
It was also him who at the start of the second half simulated being fouled... it earned him the second yellow, and consequently a red card. We had to hold our ground for more than half an hour with one less, and almost did without too much trouble.
However, already in the added time, Estêvão was fouled inside the box. Penalty kick for the green guys. And it was HUGO SOUZA, the best goalkeeper in Brasil, who jumped to his right side and defended the ball. The match ended in a tie.
Another dramatic football appearance of my Corinthians happened last Sunday, when the game was still tied nil-nil up to the 90 minutes mark. But our international players Memphis Depay and Angel Romero were able to build two goals in added time, and we finished in front by two goals!
This win officiallized our qualification to the playoff stage of the Paulistão 2025!!
Last game also featured the event that marked the change of number of our incredible Argentinian player Rodrigo Garro to the historic jersey number 8, that our gigantic Dr. Socrates eternalized during the time of the Democracy Corinthiana, and this story deserves a post for itself...
I've always found the Brazilian league season so confusing. You've qualified and does that mean that the 2nd half of the season now starts? I should look it up really and try harder to understand it!
