Active Rest Days and Mobility Work

Ever since this dang nerve/shoulder/neck issue I have been experiencing since last week, I have had nothing but time to do excessive cardio, and a lot of rehab for not only my shoulder, but all of my muscles and joints.

Before all this happened, my weekends were usually filled with active rests day anyways. Active rest days are basically a "rest" day from training at the gym but still doing light exercise (biking, yoga, swimming, racketball) to help enable the recovery process so you're gym-ready the next week.

So now that I have had to give my body some TLC, I utilized my weekend by jog/hiking, racketball (left handed) and stretching which I hope to incooperate more now on a daily basis; even outside of the gym and not because I'm a gimp right now. 😅

After my activities today I focused on my mind-to-muscle connection and made sure I felt the right muscle being stretched as I performed each position.

My flexibility game needs some work, but man did it hurt so good.

Definitely need to make this a Sunday Ritual. What better way to take on the week then some lengthened and eager muscles! 🤗

How long have you been doing yoga for ?

I don't do much yoga per say. That would just hurt me becausr it is no joke- hard. I just do mobility work to help me with my lifts in the gym

Ohhhhh here the dreaded shoulder injury. I feel your pain. I just finally after taking my workouts to a complete halt for 4 weeks just started getting back into the groove of things. Thank goodness for TAbata. Anyways fantastic article.

Daaaaaang you got some serious will-power to keep pushing up that mountain. Beautiful view makes it all worth it.

Yay! I love it Miranda! Our hips are so tight from sitting so much! Mine are permanently tight I'm afraid! ;) I spend a good 50% of my workouts just trying to loosen them up!

Hey thank you! I need to get into yoga, hear it's great overall for spine health and core strengthening. Wonder how much taller i would be if all my muscles were at their full length. Haha
