Life is too short to hold any grudges

in #emotions5 months ago (edited)

Few days back one of my very close relative passed away. Some years back till I moved to Muscat we were in regular contact. I could not avoid her even though I wanted to in those days and both of us had some level of bitterness for each other. When I moved to Muscat I was kind of relieved that I no longer had to keep connected with her.

Then over the last few years my heart softened for her. Her health condition was deteriorating and I was feeling sad for her. Whenever I would visit Mumbai I would make it a point to visit her. Our relationship became very amicable over the lasy few years. We did not develop a close bond but we did reach out to each other with compassion.

It took some time for both of us to let go off our grudges against each other. For the first few years of me shifting we completely cut off connection with each other and allowed our feelings for each other to settle down. Later on I did realise that there was too much of unnecessary drama between us which could have been easily avoided.

But one thing I am relieved that I could let go off my grudge against her and come to good terms with her before she passed away, else I would have had a heavy heart all my life. Seriously, we do not know how much life each one of us have and there's no point in having bitter relationships with people in our life.

Better to forgive and forget rather than hold grudges, life is too short

You are very right on that

Yes, and I also feels sometimes distance gives us a better perspective, while we were together we could not come to terms but when we grew apart we started understanding each other better

Yes, holding grudges is silly. The bitterness will only poison our system.
Even if you can't bring yourselve to forgive the other party, just let it go and move on. Don't hold grudges. Cheers!

Right, Let Go is the mantra, specially if it's not a part of your present
