RE: YouTube Censorship is Out of Control!
This has been going on for some time.
They want to have the best of both worlds:
- a site with curated content where everything requires approval. Thing is, that means it is NOT an open platform.
Also, - An open platform, where people are free to post whatever they find interesting. Which means that the platform can only censor what goes against stated rules.
If they are an open platform, they have no liability for content. If they are publishers then they are liable for every crime that gets posted.
They need to dance that fine line; ultimately, the platform will end up losing out on the long term as the decentralized systems take stronger audiences.
They're absolutely ridiculous. If YouTube wants to be a closed platform, they should be honest about it and fix their automated systems to allow channels that take years to be established to modify or delete their content to stay active and follow the rules.
I agree with you prediction that in the long run they will lose if they keep this up.
