Read on to find out how the 3-part-prompt is formed into ONE story (a twist at the 3rd part) | Weekend Freewriting
She loved both her husbands. One being the sentimental and romantic type, hence always had his ears and shoulders ever ready whenever she needed to rant. The other one being the visionary and entrepreneur type, hence always had his charisma on him which mesmerised her. But she had lost both of them. To her own selfishness and insecurity and fear.
She had always been dreaming of an ideal husband to fulfil all her needs, both outer needs and inner needs. She married her 1st one due to falling in love with his capability to lavish her with love, encouraging words and often surprised her with romantic dates. But she was not satisfied due to her thinking he was slow in his vision. Or she had subtlety condemned him for not being a high achiever but more of a homely man. She loved him for being a lovey-dovey husband, and also rich due to inheritance. But she resented him for not working and only stayed at home taking care of her and his parents. Secretly she wished she had a husband who was a dreamer, a visionary or a successful entrepreneur.
Before long, she fell in love with her boss, who was rich and successful. Two years later she divorced the first one and married her boss. She wanted to dream big with her boss, who became her new husband. Her new husband had extremely huge visions and he said he wanted to expand his business to higher bigger place. She was an office clerk and now she had been promoted to become his wife. She could not wait to manage the business together with him, to build the company into a bigger place.
There was a feeling about the place, but it wasn't what you'd expect. As a new wife to this new husband, she thought to herself she had never seen a man as successful as him. He was organised in his work, and an objective and practical person. She loved him for being such a good planner and manager. He could manage many things all by himself. So independent that he would not want her in, just asked her to remain in her position as office clerk to prepare the usual documents and do normal filing work. 3 months down the road, he even asked her to quit work to take care of home.
As months went by, her insecurities began to stalk her again. She wondered why was he so successful single-handedly and why he never wanted her to join venture. Suspicious crept in without her knowing. She wanted to find out more what sort of businesses were there, and from where all the money came. She just wanted to be part of him and his businesses, but he just wanted her to be an ordinary wife to take care of the house. Failing to do so by herself, she hired a secret investigator to investigate her husband. Soon, she found out his successful businesses went beyond the country. They were all across different places. Unfortunately, these places were places full of drug smugglers and child trafficking. The investigator could not find out more details except these. That her husband was dealing with some people at different countries. Could it be his husband was in these illegal businesses all this while? And could it be the reason why he had talked about not having children of their own?
One and a half year had passed and she had become very insecure as she was not allowed to meddle in his businesses. Husband and wife's relationship had been affected due to bouts of quarrel every now and then. They had grown cold a little day by day. From suspicion, she started to doubt her husband too. And scared of him. Feeling afraid that he was a bad guy doing all the wrong illegal stuff, she drowned herself in alcohol to ease her mind from thinking too much. Loneliness started to haunt her day by day.
One day, as she was lying down on the floor with whisky, she saw something underneath the cabinet. An envelope...
The stamp on the envelope. Her eyes caught her gaze on the stamp. It was the same stamp her 1st husband had. The stamp that her 1st husband said it was a special edition and only a few people had the stamp. He would never use it unless it was for a special purpose - perhaps to write a letter to his best friend or family. Having no more rational sense and full curiosity, she tore open the envelope with the knife-envelope.
"Hi brother, I know she is in good hands now. I know you will take care of her. Please take good care of her by turning over a new leaf. I know we have been keeping our identity as secretive as possible because you are protecting mum and dad and me. I know you do not want to rub on your illegal work unto us. So that even if anything happens, you will be the only one to bear. We had all we have because of your hard work. Thank you for providing us all these years. I had easy life because of you.
But brother, now that you are married. And I know her well. It is time you stop all these businesses before you are caught. It will risk your life brother. She needs you to be at home too. She loves spending time talking, and have romantic dates as husband and wife. You can be successful in other ventures because you are an entrepreneur. You can stop all the drugs and children trafficking. Forget about the money bro. Clear your conscience. Just do your crypto thing and take care of your wife. Please, she could not bear another divorce. Mine had hurt her alot that was the reason she found you. Because you are steady and I agree too. Please build this family. It is a gift for you. She is overall a good wife just too high an expectation. And I know you can meet her expectation.
Take my advice little brother before it is too late. Stop all the businesses one by one and build a new legal ones. You and her can live happily forever and you have own kids without feeling guilty. Mum and dad are doing fine here. We miss her of course. But we thought we better stay away from her for both of your good."
Love,
Brother
It took her awhile to figure out the handwriting and the whole puzzle.
Mentally instable, she lost her control. She became enraged and screamed because she felt being cheated by both her husbands. But she also loved both of her husbands. Mixture of feeling was beyond her control and management. The shiny thing kept calling her. It was the knife envelope. She looked at the knife envelope at her hand and she paused in silence.
Prompt 1: She loved both her husbands.
Prompt 2: There was a feeling about the place, but it wasn't what you'd expect.
Prompt 3: The stamp on the envelope
