World AIDS Day is 1st of December every year. Think about
Campaign theme: Everybody counts
Current strategy for HIV management:90-90-90

Later today (I really hope for time), I'll be writing a full post or creating a video to share my thoughts on HIV/AIDS matters and World AIDS day. This is a field where I have been working for almost 20 years.

@maryfavour & @redfishpillar.

Oops... Honestly, I have no idea.. But would have to make some research right away!

Hello, @prechi. Great! Please, go do a little bit of search and let's know your findings. Steem on!

I believe that's a UN policy for AIDS. I have to google now.

That's correct, @cwen. Bravo! You get 50% vote now. If you can explain to others in simple terms using bullet points, that comment will get another 50%. This is to get as many people involved in World AIDS Day 2017 events. Cheers.

oh Whoa! thanks much, It is a UN Strategy/Policy to be achieved by the year 2020 listed goals in this order:

  • 90% of people living with HIV know their status
  • 90% of people living with HIV receive antiretroviral treatment
  • 90% of people living with HIV receiving antiretroviral treatment achieve viral suppression.

Please which word is correct antiviral or retroviral or antiretroviral?

Job well done, @cwen!!!

Please which word is correct antiviral or retroviral or antiretroviral?

The 3 words are all correct, depending on the context in which they are used. In the context of 90-90-90 HIV/AIDS management strategy, it is antiretroviral treatment/therapy (ART).

Thank you for that clarification

You are most welcome.

By 2020, 90% of all people living with HIV will know their HIV status. By 2020, 90% of all people with diagnosed HIV infection will receive sustained antiretroviral therapy. By 2020, 90% of all people receiving antiretroviral therapy will have viral suppression.

That's a very big ambitious plan on UNAID side. Let's see how it goes.

That is it, @greenrun. You got it. Please, read my comment below on what the Minister of Health said regarding the issue.

@maryfavour, self-testing kit would help a lot of people know their HIV status. But of late the HIV sensitisation campaign seems to have taken a backseat amongst other mirage of problems bedevilling the country. Let's see how it goes.

Hmmm i wonder how feasible this plan is
Expecially in this country we live in where people get stigmatised for every little thing.

I thought so too! I will read more to know how they plan to carry that out especially in Nigeria and what has been done so far.

It is an ambitious plan that all of us can help out in achieving. Countries are meant to adopt the 90-90-90 HIV/AIDS management strategy. Nigeria is not left out. The Honourable Minister of Health, Prof. Issac Adewole, reports that Nigeria has adopted the strategy in the Punch article titled- FG targets 90% coverage for HIV carriers..

Punch news article was authored by Eniola Akinkuotu and published on the 21st of November, 2017.

I do not know about this. Well, maybe because I am not in Nigeria. United nation is trying for people. I hope people will benefit more and their project will succeed.

@seyiodus.

@seyiodus, the celebration of World AIDS Day is not a national, but a worldwide affair. Thanks for stopping by. Cheers.

Yeah, you are right. My bad but it is not well know here. We do hear about AIDS everyday because the population of people with AIDS is high here. So we don't know the different anymore.

Awareness matters a lot. Everybody counts.

Our youths need to know a lot. Many still get involved in acts that can get them in trouble and the campaign is not as strong as it was when I was younger.

Sex is not the only way though but people are more careful these days.

Hopefully, health organisations take the pain to pass the right education to the younger generation.

Absolutely, @jotmax! Awareness matters a lot. It might shock you to learn that knowledge of HIV/AIDS related issues is what is really lacking.

health organisations take the pain to pass the right education to the younger generation.

Join me anytime on my blog today to discuss on World AIDS Day 2017. As soon as I finish my business for the day, I'll be here to respond to all of your concerns regarding HIV/AIDS. Inform others and help reblog this post. Thanks for your contribution.

The knowledge is really lacking.

You are welcome ma'am.

Re-blogged

Thank you for helping to reblog, @jotmax. Keep steeming.

You are welcome ma'am. Keep up the good work with #redfishpillar

The education needs to be upped.

Thank you very much, you have discussed a very important matter. I think this is very important to me, thank you again for a nice post.

No idea what it means, but I'm about to Google it. Thanks.

It's my pleasure, @greenrun. Check my comment, the second link I shared.

The picture is very beautiful

thank you very much for your post
