Richmond and Jacksonville - Pit Stops !!!
Richmond
Our over night flying visit and to be honest we were glad !! Looking at the map they wasn’t too much to be done but as you can see we spent our day lazing by this rock pool river ... bliss! We needed it after New York and Washington
We walked from the ‘town’ no real places to eat or anything ..! We got Uber eats to the river ! It’s a good half an hour or so from town ... but the view and the relaxing atmosphere is worth it ! And to get over to the nature research where I spot was , you walked over a suspension bridge ... pretty cool :)
One more picture of the river then il go on to explain dinner !!
So after a day of relaxing we went back to our air b n b to get sorted googling where to go for dinner looking at all the places and they menus .. we came across a like pub and thought we are safe with that we will go there not far from where we were staying we could walk :)
We got there but saw another place across the road rammed full of people and a queue at the door ... the place we were going to had no one in it !!! So like tourists we opted for the busy one always a good clue If it’s good or not !!!
We weren’t mistaken !! It was an Italian .. open kitchen all the locals went there you could just tell ... it was incredible
So that brings us on to Jacksonville
Jacksonville
We were a trek away from the Amtrak station so we caught a bus to our air b n b but then had to walk over highways and train tracks to get there !!! An adventure to say the least haha !!!
We looked at the map as we do everywhere we stopped !! We pretty much found nothing !! But we were like nope we will go for a walk and see what we can find :)!
We came across a lake and the most beautiful sunset ...
So worth it! We also stopped at a little restaurant in the middle of the neighbourhood which had raving reviews on tripadvisor ... it was interesting ... !!! It was supposed to be a dessert place but only had one dessert of the day !!!! You could tell a lot of locals went there !! The chef knew everyone !!! I opted for the peach cobbler ( have to say amazing !!!) and my friend opted for the cheese and crackers!! All I can say is - very American !!!
It was an experience we won’t forget !!!
We did catch the bus to a little beach town but was hugely cloudy day but we made the most of it heading to a seafood restaurant as quite a lot of our outings co insided with eating !! When in America !!!!
When you look up online - things to do in Jacksonville - lots of pictures come up of the friendship fountains we were like oh cute let’s go see them in the centre ... so we trekked into town on the bus walked over the big bridge
sat in a bar waiting for this show to start over the fountains ( it’s to music and lights etc !!)
We happened to mention that’s what we were waiting for to the barman ... he said yea you might have trouble with that ! Don’t seem to be working at the moment :(
God damn it !!!
But I reckon pretty impressive when they do work
See what I mean !!!
That brings me to the end of my little pit stops !!
Next stop is Orlando
But we were there for a day !! Went to volcano bay for a chilled day ready for our train to Miami
It’s a must !! Love a water park
And for dinner we went to a place called city walk with lots of shops and restaurants.. very touristy American !! Take a look ...
My next and final stop of this trip is Miami .. stay tuned
