Relief of Buddhas’ Face, The Masterpiece of Baekjae Dynasty Culture
The most important part in these Buddha statues seems the smile according to the evaluation of the specialists on this part.
The expression of smile could be seen through the relief of the statues.
So I took the photos of the smile from different direction to take the best angle to show the smile more deliberately.
I'd like to show you the relief of Buddhas' faces from different angles.
Unlike other relief of Buddha face made in Goryeo dynasty, the faces of these buddhas are very similar that of Korean people’s face.
The faces of Buddhas made in Goryeo dynasty were little bit different from the faces of Korean ordinary people.
The Artists who carved these statue in Baekjae dynasty seemed try to carve and express Buddha’s face with the ordinary people’s face.
In Buddhist theory, it is believed that there is a Buddha in everyone’s mind. Looking at the smile of the faces, I thought that the masons in Baekjae dynasty tried to find Buddha in their neighbors’s face.
your theory of faces seems good to me ...
The statues indeed are made by skilled artisans @slowwalker and they are crafted to last for centuries indeed.
Thank you
@slowwalker,
Yeah these faces are more similar to your people's faces! When we are comparing with other faces, I see a face little bit similar to people's faces of Thailand or near country. Anyway it's nice to see such great stone statues and perfect description of it! Thank you!
Cheers~
Thank you so much
I have always seen that smile and that joy in the statues of Buddha. I think that gives peace and peace to his believers.
Wooow...........😱 Awesome photo & post 📪 my lovely friend @slowwalker ..really.. Really love your photography..📷💞💞
I like the ones where Buddha smiles a lot more, he seems kinder and more approachable.
Indeed Buddha is in all of us, we just have to find him. (or look at one of his statues and find our neighbour in it :))
@slowwalker, Glad to see very closer smile faces of Buddha who carved Baekjae dynasty. Really match Korean's faces from these Buddha's faces. Impressive photo clicks with better introduction.
Those pictures are adorable. breathtaking craftsmanship! and that smile took my heart. keep up with such good content.
Delightful smile. I really like the desire of the authors to make the expression faces of the Buddha as close as possible to the faces of people living nearby.
