Exploring the streets of Bern

in #travel8 days ago

A lot of people think that Zurich or Geneva is the capital city of Switzerland, but that's not the case. Bern is the capital of Switzerland, and it's also one of my favorite cities in Switzerland. I love the vibe of the old town of Bern, the narrow cobbled streets, the clock tower and the water fountains are all admirable in this place. The colorful figures on the water fountains are a good picture frame. This street is a mix of everything, you will find big brands here as well as some local things to buy, there are fancy restaurants as well as road side eateries. I have had one of the best Shawarmas here, which I have never been able to have it here in Muscat or even in Turkey that I last visited.

Sharing some memories of this place, from my holiday here last year. There is a main street and then lot of by-lanes, cars are only allowed on certain roads of this place. The best way to enjoy it is to walk up.

The famous Zytglogge clock-tower of Bern from the 13th century, and it's working. It feels so good to see something of history still alive and functioning.

All the buildings look same here

The best part of this street are the water fountains, there are some 9 or 11 in a row at a distance and most of them are operating, so one can drink water out of it. Bern is also known as the city of Fountains are there are some more then 100 fountains all over the city.
