Because Paris is always a good idea!

Here's a little preview of my next posts about Paris! :D Pictures in all posts were taken with various cameras and phones ;)
A small intro about my relationship with Paris...

My mom studied there, first she did her master's and later on she studied professional cooking at the biggest school in the country http://www.lenotre.com/. After that, she would go back and forth for many years with my grandma to buy haute couture clothes which would later sell at a Boutique they had. 10 years ago she managed to buy an apartment and live half the year there.
...and that's why I had to take private French classes at the age of 4...Because she was into France so much!!!
Can't say it didn't pay off though since when I was 23 I moved to Paris for my second bachelor's and first master's (both in Sociology), and always traveling back - before and still after my studies. I stayed 4 years and I keep saying that it was too much - and it was! Because Paris seen as a local it can be very depressing. But, at the same time, it's a never ending love, passionate and romantic :D

This is my parish aaaand very famous church of Paris, the Sacre Coeur (literally meaning 'Sacred Heart) at the top of the Montmartre hill :)

The second tallest Parisian skyscraper, the Montparnasse (Mount Parnassos, in Greece), 210 meters tall - it was the first until 2011 -, with still the most floors though, 59!

And the view from the Montparnasse Tower :)

Detail of the Eiffel Tower :) It was built in 1889 as a temporary entrance structure of the World's Fair and named after its engineer, Gustave Eiffel - it seems that besides the critisicm of the strange - for those times - architecture, the Eiffel Tower stayed and became the absolute Parisian -and French- icon! Since the day it was built, over 250 million people have gone up its 324 meters (including me!).

And something for a laugh! Saw this outside a bar restaurant at the Monmartre area. It says in French:
"Juice without the pulp,
Beer without alcohol,
Sodas without sugar,
Meals without salt.
AND WE'RE STILL NOT CAPABLE OF MAKING A PLANET WITHOUT ASSHOLES"
- Pierre Desproges, French humorist, 1939-1988

I hope you enjoyed! More to come soon, stay tuned! :D And don't forget to smile!

nice group of photos @meanmommy33, you're lucky to have so much exposure to Paris as a child and all your life! Interesting you say it's depressing as a local, how so? I have found that New York can feel that way simply because the intensity wears one down and all of the hard surfaces tire a person's spirit after awhile.

Thank you!!! :) Yes, indeed, it was great and I think important on how I grew up. I get that for nyc as well (even though I haven't lived for a long period there) - it's the same. I think -besides the rain, when talking about Paris- maybe it's the big city effect. Same with Rome as well. And the irony is that I always considered myself a 'City girl' - but maybe not too big, that's the problem. Then, it becomes chaotic and you get 'lost' in it (and in its everyday depression) I guess...

Yes I understand and agree...the key to life is getting away often enough! It refreshed our perspective. I coudn't live in the country nor a big city all the time...change is essential for me.

I get you! Even though I tend to say that 'I like routine' and 'safety', I think the thing which is driving me crazy the most is actually standing still! Oxymoron, I know :D

we are all walking paradoxes aren't we ;-)

I guess yes, nicely put ;)
