Left to right the main peaks are Cerro Poincenot (3002m), Aguja de la Silla (2938m), Monte Fitz Roy (3405m), Aguja Val de Vois (2653m). Fitz Roy was named after the captain of the HMS Beagle who explored the area with renowned naturalist Charles Darwin, after traveling up the Santa Cruze River in 1834. Alternatively called Cerro Chaltén; Chaltén is a Tehuelche (Aonikenk) word meaning smoking mountain, due to a cloud that usually forms around the tip of the mountain. Argentine Patagonia, Argentina.
