Welcome to my 7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - South American Saturday - where the winner of the weekly round will be able to participate for the total of 200 SBD!
Today, you can participate by submitting your personal pictures from your travels to the continent of South America.

Here's a photo I took at the Atacama desert region in North Chile. I was hiking towards a peak and was impressed by this amazing view. The neatly cut sand ridge formed a beautiful curve stretching towards the cliff in distance. The golden sun rays cast a dreamy shade on the whole scene. Truly magical!

Your entries need to be submitted by 8 AM Central European Time in order to be considered for the challenge with a description of approximately 30 to 50 words. Only use of personal images will be accepted and only one picture can be submitted for a daily photo challenge. Ten winning photos will receive a bigger upvote from me and ten runners-up will get a smaller one.
Chosen from the ten winning entries, the absolute winner of the day will receive extended publicity in my post tomorrow morning. I will also visit his/her blog to upvote one of the most recent posts. The winning picture of the daily challenge will then automatically enter other rounds with the absolute winner gaining approximately 200 SBD in total.

A stunning beach, and underwater beauty that makes this island very crowded with foreign tourists. A photo that I took on the Ujoeng beach kareung at sunrise some time ago on Sabang island.

Walking around Argos today, you can't suspect it has been inhabited since the Neolithic period! It is the biggest town in Argolis and a major centre for the area but all you can see is a small city not any different from many others in Greece.
And yet it has been continuously inhabited as at least a substantial village for the past 7,000 years and is a member of the Most Ancient European Towns Network!

Enchantment. I had been watching the smoke from a nearby forest fire drift towards Arches N P. Utah USA. The sunset colors were appearing as I hurried to find a spot to photograph what would become an enchanting scene. The smoke drifted over at the right time and it was amazing to watch.

Interesting cloud formation over Montevideo (Uruguay). The Uruguayan capital located in front of Río de la Plata is very windy, and usually in winter the wind brings a lot of clouds, some time they have unusual clouds formations. This photo was taken this last winter.
Brazil - Florianópolis, known as "Magic Island" in the Rio Tavares neighborhood.
These dunes are only 10 minutes from my house. I always take my kids to play there, and they love it. They prefer to go down the running dunes than to go to the beach. However afterwards it is always possible to go to the sea to swim and beat the heat.
Alpenglow on a very very cold pre dawn on the Fitzroy Massif. Fitzroy Massif. Left to right the main peaks are Cerro Poincenot (3002m), Aguja de la Silla (2938m), Monte Fitz Roy (3405m), Aguja Val de Vois (2653m). Fitz Roy was named after the captain of the HMS Beagle who explored the area with renowned naturalist Charles Darwin, after traveling up the Santa Cruze River in 1834. Alternatively called Cerro Chaltén; Chaltén is a Tehuelche (Aonikenk) word meaning smoking mountain, due to a cloud that usually forms around the tip of the mountain. Argentine Patagonia, Argentina.
These guys stole the show. I didn’t care about Machu Picchu, I didn’t care about history of Incas and I didn’t care about the weather. I just wanted to cuddle up with them! The loveable llamas at Machu Picchu still roam freely around the ground of Machu Picchu. They are so photogenic and show us they are owners of this place!
It is a really beautiful picture, we have the impression they are the guardians of Machu Picchu.
This young alpaca looking out to the huge jesus statue at Sacsayhuamán in Cusco Peru.
Sacsayhuamán has some amazing megalithic stones carved by the Inca's from back in the day. There is a huge jesus staue that over looks the city of Cusco, and at Sacsayhuamán you will find a herd of alpacas that live on the mountain.
Stone Arch at Taquile Island, Peru
Titikaka lake is located on the border of Bolivia and Peru, I visited islands in the lake on both sides of the border. This historic stone arch is the iconic symbol of Taquile, a small island on the Peruvian side that features the ruins of an Inca temple.

The history of the Incas and the other peoples that have lived in the region is so fascinating!
Fantastic rainbow from home, this day fell a light rain and gave the most beautiful spectacle of nature a fantastic rainbow. I love the rainbows, so I did not miss the opportunity to capture this image from Margarita Island Venezuela.
Eco huts in the Sierra Nevada de Santa, near Minca, Colombia. If you like nature, there are lots of activities to do around Minca, such as hiking, bird watching, testing the coffee directly from the farm ('finca') or swimming in nearby waterfall.
