Did you hear this memorial is closed indefinitely? A couple of weeks ago one of the ship captains who takes tourists out to the memorial noticed a crack in the structure. Upon further investigation it was deemed too severe to allow visitors. I am sure it will reopen eventually but the timeline is unclear at the moment.
It is a beautiful and peaceful spot to remember all the people who lost their lives that day. Really well presented as both a memorial/grave sight and as museum/education center.
@dfinney yes we have heard of the news, and read further about it as I was typing this article. It seems it is not as bad as they thought but the repair is complex because of it's structure and water location.
It is a very special monument and I believe they did very well to commemorate all these souls.
