Hey, @blewitt.
I'm sorry to see this. It's terrible for sure. I'm glad you led with the fact that they were all safe and unharmed. When that's the case, some good can come out of it.
I was going to ask the cause, but you've already said they're still investigating. What about expenses? Is it too soon to know if the tear out and rebuild will all be covered by insurance? (I guess I'm assuming they have something like that.)
They are fortunate to have you and your family as friends, to help move them, to be there for them, even when it's just to get their minds off it all. It's a devastating loss, major inconvenience, but having you and others to be there will help get them through it.
Hopefully, the nine months will be short, and all will be well in the meantime.
Thx for the kind words brother.
Exactly. Ultimately it’s stuff that can be replaced and they will rebuild. Luckily Bill had renters insurance as the house is in her name so they get a bit from that. Not e ouch to replace possessions lost but at least something. The house itself will be covered through insurance up to a certain amount. The cool part is they get to kinda rebuild it completely as long as they stay in that budget. So they might go cheaper on flooring but add a second bathroom. Things like that.
