Banana Leaf Rice – Kanna Curry house
Banan left is a popular dish traditional south Indian cuisine that served rice dishes on banana leaves that cut to fit the glorious spread instead of plates.
The dish usually consists of unlimited refill of plain rice / Indian rice, three or four different types of vegetable, papadam (thin, disc-shaped dough made from lentils and Indian spices) and various type of curries! Oh, not to forget, there are plenty of side dishes to choose from too. Curry chicken, lamb, fish, crab, squid, fried chicken etc.
One of the famous banana leaf restaurants is Kanna Curry House. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem as it is located in the middle of a housing area in PJ Old Town.
Everybody went there for their banana leaf, there is no need for the restaurant to have a menu. Once we are seated, they started to serve white rice and vegetables on a banana left.
There are few types of curries (fish, chicken, bean) for us to mix and match according to our liking. Remember to ask for their hidden crab curry!
Here are the side dishes.
My favorite fried ikan bulus (silver whiting fish).
Deep fried squid.
What a heavy meal!
Ready to fry..
Interior of the restaurant.
Their mango lassi (yogurt-based mango milkshake) is a must try.
Total damage.
My Final reviews:
Ambiance & Hygiene: 2 stars
Food: 4 stars
Worth the money : 3 stars
