Homemade Mexican food in Thailand
I almost never go to western restaurants in Thailand. First, because I really love Thai food, and second, because western restaurants are usually expensive and the quality is not so good. Even living in a global world, the truth is that is not always easy to find western ingredients, so, most of the time I prefer to be happy with local food!
However, like everything in life, there are exceptions. Salsa Kitchen is a small Mexican restaurant in Chiang Mai. They serve a really good homemade Mexican food and you won’t miss good tacos, guacamole, and burritos if you visit the place!
I have a neighbor who is Japanese and he was curious about Mexican food, so I invited him to join me for some burritos and this was my weekly choice!
Ai ai ai burritoooosssss!!!
I was craving for burritos, so my option was a chicken burritos! My friends ordered a “chili con carne” and also a vegan tortilla. All the dishes were amazing and we end up sharing all the food (which was too much, I confess!).
What I really love about Salsa Kitchen is that everything is homemade, including the tortillas and the totopos (known for most people as “Doritos”) and the sour cream. It seems like you’re really having dinner made by a Mexican mama. The dishes are very well served, so even being a bit more pricy, it’s possible to share them and make everyone happy without busting the budget.
Salsa Kitchen Mexican Food
The place has a great atmosphere with a Mexican style in all the details. The only thing I missed, I’ll be honest, was a Mariachi Band! Besides that, the restaurant is pretty cool. The staff is also super friendly and nice!
If you miss Mexican food in Chiang Mai, I highly recommend having lunch or dinner at Salsa Kitchen. Definitely, it’s a special small piece of Mexican cuisine in the north of Thailand.

That doesn't look Mexican at all. That's more like an American way to see Mexican food. But I think over there that's pretty much the best you can get. Usually all tortillas are vegan.
hahahhahaha really? Uou! I just tried Mexican food in Brazil and in Thailand... So, need to go to Mexico to try the real one. Anyway, it was really delicious! And I enjoyed quite a lot!
Of course, outside of a country, it's not always easy to find fully authentic ethnic cuisine.
Your comment reminds me of when my Canadian friend went to Italy, and found that the pizza was ... weird. He was accustomed to North American pizza -- which, of course, is not "real" pizza.
But he grew to like real Italian pizza, too.
The Mexican food in Helga's post may not be 100% authentic, but it's 110% delicious! Guaranteed.

MMMMMMMMMmmmmmmm. I've eaten there a few times, and have never been disappointed. The food is high quality, well prepared, and absolutely delicious!
p.s. I know of another great burrito in the neighborhood. Remind me to tell you. :-PPPPPP
