Kamusta! Kuya BBQ & Grill at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah!!!
HI Tasteemians! Kamusta! Tonight, we had a fabulous Filipino dinner!
My beau and I wanted to have something good tonight and we found KUYA BBQ & GRILL in Plaza 333 which is about 20 minutes from the capital city, Kota Kinabalu.
Check out the interior design! 😉👇
The lighting was dazzling and luminous, decorated in Chinese New Year theme. We welcomed ourselves in and took seats. There were some pretty Filipino ladies who gave us the Menu.
THE MENU
Most of the words were strange to us, but we were excited to order.
They served non halal foods here. So I ordered a very unique dish called SISIG - marinated pork bits and pieces fried with generous onions and spices, served on hot sizzling pan.
Yeah, that long. Costed RM14.80 (USD3.70)
From here, we ordered Buffalo Wings. Costed RM13.80 (USD3.40).
We ordered Halo Halo as our dessert. RM12. (USD3)
As for drinks, they have typical ones but we just had plain water. For health purposes.
They had a special today - Buttered Pork. with rice. Costed RM10.90 (USD2.60)
FOOD ARRIVAL
SISIG came first. Oh, this looked delicious. After meal prayer, we took spoons and dug in. Still sizzling hot indeed. Flavourful seasoned with salt and pepper, marinated pork and they gave us two calamansi lime to squeeze onto the dish, adding acidity that will balance the flavor. However, I could taste also some internal organs on this dish, which I didn't mind. Still delish.
We didn't regret of ordering this simple dish, which was buttery and aromatic. Deep fried pork slices were stir fried in butter, curry leaves, chilli, and cream or evaporated milk. My Beau enjoyed it very much.
Next up... I apologise, OK?
It's not my fault that the chicken wings looked sooo yummeh!!! 😋😋😋
Buffalo Wings - spicy and scrumptious. The portion was 4 wings. Worth it... So worth it.
After the waitresses observed that we had our meal already, they had this nice courtesy to check whether it's time to send the dessert.
Well, hello Halo Halo...
Halo Halo is a very dessert to me. It was ice blended product with fruits and nuts topped with ice cream. We were thrilled to see this and we attacked! So much going on in one dessert. Cereals azuki red beans... Lucky not so sweet... There were some tasty bits... And we took a moment to savour the flavor. Guess what!!! They incorporated fruits inside - the steamed banana bits! Yes steamed banana banana. And egg pudding caramel also cut into Cubes. How awesome was that, thanks KUYA!!!
