RE: Self-Love Is The Key To Ending Depression

in #suicide7 years ago

Great advice, as an optimist I was perplexed when I was hit by endogenous/clinical depression years ago after my thyroid played up and was put on anti depressants for years. Thankfully got over that for many years but after a tragic event felt this coming back but had the tools this time around to fight it without medication. Used many of the techniques mentioned in your post, thank you for sharing. I would rather have physical pain than that kind of mental pain which many do not understand (I did not until it hit me!) It does get better even if you think it never will :)

Amen @lizelle. Mental pain is far worse than physical pain and is often and sadly self-inflicted, even if the initial pain was not. Why do we feel the need to relive events that caused us distress, even after they have been over for years? My mom was abused in the worst way as a child and still allows it to haunt her, and I told her it is like her uncle is still abusing her every day even though it has been decades and he's dead. She harbors so much blame in her heart, and it makes me sad, because it is internally focused on her inner child. She constantly beats herself up and feels unworthy of love and happiness.

So sorry to hear that, if only we can let go and be the victor not the victim! Thank you for the insight xxx
