Museum apartment of Nikola Vaptsarova

in #story5 years ago

The Nikola Vaptsarov House-Museum is located in the apartment of a cooperative house on the fourth floor in the very center of Sofia on 37 Angel Kinchev Street. Entrance from Khan Asparuh Street. The poet himself is from Bansko, but this apartment is his last place of life. Here he lived from 1940 to 1942 with his wife, brother and children who had already died. Here was the editorial board of the Literary critic.

The museum itself was created in 1952 and officially opened in 1956. It was his aunt’s apartment, which kindly allowed him to live here.

This apartment was the center of anti-fascist activity in Bulgaria, for which they arrested and then shot Nikolai Vaptsarov.
In the 2000s, the community bought the neighboring two stairwell apartments and the museum was supplemented by a gallery, a cinema hall and an archive.

Nikola Vaptsarov was a famous Bulgarian poet and fighter against fascism. He was born in 1909 in Bansko, in a family of hereditary revolutionaries - his father Yonko Vaptsarov was friends with Peyo Yavorov (a famous writer) - both of them volunteered for the Balkan War. Apparently this friendship influenced little Nicola. Nikala Vaptsarov’s mother was a teacher and he received a good education at that time, and completed it at the Naval College in Varna.

After being dismissed from the army, Nikola Vaptsarov married, moved to Sofia, worked where necessary and wrote poetry. At the same time, he was engaged in explosions - he was an ardent anti-fascist, explosives were stored at home.

In the end, he was arrested on a denunciation and shot in July 1942. And twice, - after the first volley he was still alive.
Nikola Vaptsarov lived only 32 years, but is a famous person in Bulgarian history and literature.
In 1952, he was posthumously awarded the peace prize that his mother, Elena Vaptsarova, received for him.

In his life there were many interesting, and sometimes tragic moments, which the guides talk about. For example, the causes and circumstances of his death were classified in 1944 and disclosed only in 2011.

All these autumn photos were taken by me personally.
