Overall, steem is not a Content based platform. Because it is a "social media" platform, post what ever you want what ever you like. Upon doing shit post, lets not also expect a lot of rewards.
I used to believe actually on this one. "Post whatever you want whatever you like". When I first come here I did exactly the same thing I treated this platform like I would normally treat FB/Twitter and even Reddit. I posted memes, some random quotes (It's what I do on FB lol) and yeah I did not expect rewards as I was just still testing if the whole platform was real or a scam.
Weeks passed, I've realized that it's not really that much free in here. People are so quick to downvote others especially if the account who does all that is kind of weak. Newbies who where told that this platform is just another FB/Insta but instead of pure likes those likes where turned into crypto money. I have seen many people who left disappointed after being downvoted for not exactly knowing the reason why and that was because the post they "want to post" where treated as "spam" by others. :)
