We all believe in second chances, but a second chance does not exist here on Steemit

We only have one chance to live our lives.  What ever we do in our lives, reflects upon our lives forever.  Some religions however believe that we get a second chance with reincarnation.

Reincarnation is the philosophical or  religious concept that an aspect of a living being starts a new life in a  different physical body or form after each biological death. It is also  called rebirth or transmigration, and is a part of the Saṃsāra doctrine  of cyclic existence.

Even though I live my life the way that I want to, and I am a happy and content person, I do believe in second chances.  People that gets healed from cancer, gets a second chance in life. People that are in horrifying accidents gets a second chance if they survive.  They suddenly start living.

Except here on Steemit.  I did a previous post on EQ and IQ that I will regret for the rest of my life.  I have been doing research about the EQ topic for quite a few months now.  I have been editing books for the last 6 months and I do have quite a lot of information regarding this topic.  When I decided to write about this topic, it was natural that I would use some of this information as reference.  It was not my intention to plagiarize anything. After @pfunk mentioned that the content that was used came from the internet, I edited the post.  It was not my intention to disregard the comment or to prove it wrong, but I was then branded as a scammer and everything I post now is being flagged down.  Even the original posts afterwards were down voted.  I would like to sincerely apologize for this, and up to now my personal intention is not to harm anyone.  Steemit has given me hope for life.  I am inclined to being depressed, and since I have started here on Steemit, I have felt more alive than I have in years.  I have even stopped my anti-depressants.  Needless to say, after this whole issue, I have started drinking my meds again this morning.

I am quite new to Steemit, and if I did not have the Raw Html format to work on, I would probably not be writing so many posts or even have any pictures in my posts  as I don't know how to add them:) I have had a lot of guidance from my friends on the Steemit platform on how to do certain things in my posts, and even though they are not all perfect and the pics are not the right sizes, they are still mine.

I am being flagged down for everything.  I have apologized on the   #steemitabuse-appeals and I have apologized on   #steemitabuse-classic

@pfunk is doing everything to bring me down.  I was branded as a scammer.

scammer -  a  person who swindles you  by  means  of  deception  or  fraud chiseler, chiseller, defrauder, grifter, swindler, gouger card shark, card sharp, card sharper, cardsharp, cardsharper, sharper, sharpie, sharpy -  a  professional card player who makes  a  living  by  cheating  at  card games clip artist -  a  swindler who fleeces the victim con artist, con man, confidence man -  a  swindler who exploits the confidence  of  his victim beguiler, cheater, deceiver, trickster, slicker, cheat -  someone who leads you  to  believe something that  is  not true welcher, welsher -  someone who swindles you  by  not repaying  a  debt  or  wager.

I wrote another post after this post https://steemit.com/life/@serioustruth/we-all-have-to-die

No one is able to read this post however as @pfunk is targeting me and flagging all my content. This has resulted in  series of other things happening and me being banned by @cheetah

I do not even know how this works!  I just feel that it is totally wrong that one person can decide someone's fate here on Steemit.  We all make mistakes.  We are just human.  I have apologized and sent a personal message to @pfunk, but I was ignored.

I do not want anyone to lose any reputation points through my error.  If I do not comment on your posts, then it is not because I don't want to, I am actually protecting you now.  I have loved my time here on Steemit and I would LOVE to be able to get back to writing as soon as possible.

I am really not a scammer.  Everyone deserves a second chance.  Please reconsider this and let me get back to my life. I know that you are just trying to keep Steemit clean, but making one mistake should not cause all this trouble.

I will appreciate your comments.

OK. Take a deep breath and we'll see what we can do to repair this . . . .

First, let's look at what is going on . . . .
Mistake 0. You didn't edit "EQ vs IQ" heavily enough

  1. You got flagged for "EQ vs IQ". Your later comment "I could not leave the post as it is, as it was indeed plagiarism." makes it appear as if you agree that the flag was justified . . . .
Note: Throughout this series of events, pfunk is being really good about telling you why you are being flagged.
Mistake 1. You didn't clearly mark the post as edited and why you edited it
  2. You posted "So I got flagged"
Mistake 2. See l0k1's comment starting with Taking a knife to a gunfight... you should read this: https://steemit.com/howto/@papa-pepper/how-to-commit-steemicide-suicide-on-steemit-and-how-not-to-if-you-prefer-to-avoid-it
  3. You got flagged by pfunk for "So I got flagged" because he disagreed with your claim "So did I copy someones work? No! Did I steal someone else' s work? No I did not." He clearly demanded a reply . . . .
Note: Other flaggers didn't have the courtesy to tell you whether they flagged for that reason or simply because you only had a knife.
    Mistake 3: You don't reply
  4. After 10 hours of not receiving a reply, pfunk flagged "We all have to die" that you posted well after pfunk requested a reply (important because it showed that you were on Steem and ignored him). His comment points back to "So I got flagged". He then commands cheetah to ban you.
Probable Mistake 4: You don't understand exactly what a cheetah ban is and how it works. In particular, it seems as if you may not understand that steemit.chat is a totally separate program -- not just using the steemitabuse flags on steemit.
  5. Your wrote this post. It has not been flagged (yet). Everyone seems sympathetic.
Mistake 5. You panicked and again brought a knife to a gun fight. You continue to blame pfunk as a villain.

CURRENT STATUS:

  1. Your reputation is 55 (no reason for complaints there)
  2. You lost money due to flags on posts (bummer but not as if you didn't make mistakes that caused it).
  3. You believe that pfunk is targeting you. I don't see any evidence of that.
  4. You are banned by cheetah. Learn about steemit.chat and go to the steemitabuse channels there and plead your case. Actually, now that williambanks has taken up your cause, I suspect that that will prove unnecessary -- but you really want to know about steemit.chat anyways.

Personally, it doesn't look as if you have any reason to panic. Just take a deep breath, realize that "internet time" (asynchronous events) is a really fluid and funky thing and trust that this will quickly resolve itself.

SUMMARY: Second chances do too exist on Steemit -- and you aren't helping the community by screaming otherwise. Please stop before you continue to get flagged for doing so.

Hehe... kicking a hornet's nest AND taking a knife to a gunfight. I been there and done that. Whether you have a second chance depends on whether you are repentant and/or have a motivation to make one for yourself. I was highly motivated because I had already at that point decided that I had to make a success of my work here. The blockchain never forgets but people do forgive, if you stop making the mistakes. Otherwise they will hit you harder next time when you do it again wrong.

I felt and still feel justified in what led me to kick a hornets' nest, and the flag-fighting nonsense, it was stupid. But I don't care anymore, I say, if someone's behaviour really is flag-worthy, that eventually they will get flags, from someone whose comparative power and reputation makes them into the hornets nest kickers and knife fighters in gun battles. After I let the sting and indignation subside, now I just don't care.

I just look at some of the discussions that I see the person who provided my first experience now, and I didn't even particularly look for it, it popped up in a witness thread I was looking at. The sense of indignation is now mute, but the reason I had it, is still valid.

Take a deep breath, walk away, do some dreaming, find a way to integrate the lesson, then express it, and people will respect you for recognising that you did not make the requisite effort previously and deserved it.

In your case, you have got yourself tangled up with the 'hall monitor' brigade, and they are quite a zealous bunch. Just write your stuff clean-room style. If you can't express it in your own words, you don't really understand it. If you are too lazy to write it, you probably don't need to, and nobody will appreciate you copying large volumes of text from other people without at least reprocessing it and presenting it in a different order and structure, to add value to it. 'translating' from English to English is not appreciated.

I've reblogged this. In order to bring attention to it. You have a school teacher here who is being harssased I urge you to upvote as much of his stuff as you can. Nothing he has posted is plagarism in any valid sense of the word and the original stuff that he supposedly plagarized was merely "structured" the same.

Dude is a teacher, there's only so many ways to structure academic content and keep it coherent.

If you support free speech, upvote @serioustruth wherever you can find his posts.
I also urge you to Reblog this to bring attention to the problem here so we can address it.

I have my own story about getting whaleflagged... and now this whale upvotes me regularly, 3 posts so far that got sizeable rewards. I haven't quite fully made peace with the person in question but I am not 'kicking the hornets nest' anymore and obviously this guy isn't so bad if he likes my work ;)

Hey @serioustruth. I'm really glad you posted this. It seems like you will be getting a second chance, but I am going to work toward sparing good people like you the experience you had. Being flagged and not hearing back from your steemit-abuse messages must have been scary and frustrating.

I'm getting active with Project Newbie to help new members get the information they need to have a wonderful experience here. I'm hoping to work more closely with steemcleaners to help spread important information including how to avoid being mistaken for an intentional plagiarist. There's a lot of new momentum toward helping new users learn to post pictures and more. We're just getting started.

Tell me how I can help you now and what would have helped you sooner. I've been a fan of your posts and think you're the type of member we will benefit from having more of.

Flagged for FUD.

How is it FUD? The user was trying get heard and was being ignored. I was right there in chat with him for several hours there was no response.
Banning someone who is trying to redeem themselves is not a power that should rest within the hands of any single person. Nor should it be up to a "council" or tribunal.

His problem is he didn't edit a source article enough. But that's a couple of paragraphs without citation.
It's not enough to get a college paper rejected, let alone an account ban. His great sin was that he didn't respond to @pfunk in sufficient time.

A college student doing that would, at a minimum, have a failing grade on that paper. Most likely they would also be under consideration for further disciplinary action.

Yeah ok but an outright ban? Everything this guy says is being flagged now. You can't permanently expel a student for a single bad paper. His follow on work is uniquely his own, but EVERYTHING he does is being flagged.

The punishment does not fit the crime, then you're calling this article FUD but there is nothing he is saying which is spreading anything other than "help me, I'm being attacked and can't figure out how to get out from under it.".

That's an issue between them. If they are able to resolve their differences, they can move on. Posting negative claims about the platform is FUD.

I was wondering what happened to you ? :(
