Steemit Update [ June 17th, 2024 ] : Community Curators for July - Applications Open
We hope you are all enjoying the new format for the Community Curator teams this month.
For July we have decided to make a few more changes.
This time we are continuing with the small teams - but again with an extra twist.
The Community Curators for July
For July we are inviting people interested in becoming Community Curators to apply in teams of three, two or even one !
To allow an even broader range of people to have the experience of being Community Curators the minimum SP requirement for each team member will only be 1000 SP of their own (not delegated).
However each team must have a total combined SP of 50000 SP.
For teams of two or three, the members should all be of different nationalities and live in different countries.
They should also not be Admins or Moderators in the same communities.
For July, all seven teams will be free to vote on any types of post as long as they are not plagiarized or created by AI.
One of the teams will be the lucky holders of the bigger @steemcurator03 account (1 million SP). The other teams will each have around 700K SP.
We want teams to very much look beyond communities. There are many good posts that are outside of any communities - just directly on people’s personal blogs.
Teams should seek out these often neglected authors.
The Curation Teams in July should allocate a portion of their voting power for voting on the best comments.
High quality relevant comments add extra richness to the Steem blogging ecosystem.
Good comments can be as interesting and as valuable as good posts.
We want good comments to be encouraged and rewarded.
How to Apply as a Community Curator Team
One member of the team should make a post including…
Details of each team member, including their history on Steem and any positions of responsibility they have held on the platform
The nationality, languages and country of residence of each team member
The key stats of each team member (own SP, CSI, Reputation, Delegations)
The total combined SP owned by all team members.
The three subject tags your team would most like to curate (and why).
Please note that each person can only be included in one application. If you make an application to be a single person curation team, you cannot also apply in a team with others.
Keep posts brief and easy to follow. Include the tag #curatorapplication in the first four tags.
Applications can be made in any language.
Posts should be submitted by 11.59pm UTC, on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024.
How Community Curators will be rewarded
Every day all teams will be allowed to allocate one full vote to a member’s post - ideally in rotation.
In total no more than 10% of the account’s voting power should be used on team members each week.
Additionally each week one member should post a report for the team in the Steem POD community with a list of their top 7 posts, with a brief note of why each post was chosen.
These posts should set beneficiaries to share the rewards with other members of the team.
The posts will be voted by @steemcurator01.
Thank you to this month’s Community Curators. You are all welcome to apply again for July.
The new Curation Teams will be announced by the end of the month, with a view to starting at the beginning of July.
As this new team application process will be quite experimental we reserve the right to hand pick teams if not enough suitable teams apply.
Finally we would like to remind everyone that they should not contact the Community Curators asking for votes, or to be selected as a Post of the Week. Anyone found doing this may be barred from receiving any @steemcurator0x or @booming votes.
The Steemit Team
It is very good that the suggestion of trying to cure by tags has been taken. However, I am only concerned about the fact that teams must study very well the existence of the publications they want to curate.
Perhaps it is too early to divide teams by tags, since this form of curation has been tested in the past with its limitations.
I think that for this time it is important and valuable to continue maintaining freedom in curation, as well as in tags, so that teams can complete their turns.
It occurs to me that it could be said that a team can be especially oriented towards certain tags of its choice, but not limited to them.
It would also be good for the teams to give feedback about their experience.🙂
We want all teams to continue to curate all types of posts on all subjects.
The idea of asking about tags is just so we can select teams with a wide range of interests.
Yes, now I understand. Good to Know.
Thank you so much for clarifying this point.
I think that in this way the teams will be able to apply taking into account their interests and also the areas that they dominate.🙂
It is excellent to promote the search for tags, I even suggest that the club5050 and burnsteem25 tags be secondary (without losing their purpose), this way users will be able to efficiently use the tags according to the type of content they share, sometimes I find posts about stories and the tag #history is not among the top 4, nor #writing, or in the worst case, there is none.
I will certainly be providing guidance on the use of labels, where necessary.
Hi Steemit Team, first of all I would like to thank you for continuing running this Initiative of Community curators, that is something that united many people together and also many found the people with same interest, thinking and the Role of working in team made it possible to make friends between many of us.
I noticed the announcement of curators for June and new structure, what I like is that it was allowed users to create teams, that made the work to be more efficient, because the users knew each other and it is then easy to discuss or to advise without a concern if the other curator will be offended.
To carry out a good curating work it is a hard work that requires at least 2-3 hours of search and to check if all necessary requirements such as Plagiarism, AI content, club status all being check. While working in teams of four it already required working every forth day in teams for three is means one has only two days off. That is quite busy time. I enjoyed curation work because I was ale to highlight many interesting users but with such tight schedule it is not possible to combine for example my work, life and curation. Ideal number in my opinion is 5 users. I think there are some users who might share my opinion too. On other hand I am also pretty sure that there will be many who will be happy to try this new curation scheme for July.
I just wanted to share my thoughts and wishing everyone Success for their application in July!

I was very happy to hear about this new idea, something that made me even more excited when I read that one of the requirements was that team members must have at least 1000 SP. I want to try this opportunity, let's form a team.

The idea deserves recognition. After working as a community curator for over a year, I'm impressed to see someone take on the account single-handedly. I wish I had 50k power, but I'm still eager to be part of a Curation team in July with those who are interested and dedicated. Let's see how this challenge unfolds. A big salute to the Steemit team for their innovative ideas!

We have enough members with 50k SPs of their own, so most applications will probably come in singles, which will mar the idea of giving members with fewer SPs a chance to be curators.
I feel the original format of more members in a team was the best, but as you said, this is an experiment, so go ahead with it. I see it as an experiment that will see fewer curators than ever before. Best of luck, applicants, and I hope you will suggest your three tags carefully, as I see it as a deteriorating factor for creative writers and definitely a jolt for newbies.
It will be interesting to see who takes the chance to apply as an individual.
Applying as an individual does not guarantee selection.
See the response to @inspiracion about the tags...
