Gay Pride Month 2017
What is Gay Pride Month?
It is a month where the LGBT community celebrate their basic human rights. This year the month chosen is June to commemorate the incident that took place in June 1969 where a popular Gay bar was raided by New York City police. Days after the raid there were riots, brawl and protests which were considered the first major demonstration for homosexual rights.
This month many rallies, parades and conferences took place all around the world. In some places they were successful like Canada and in some the activists were arrested like Turkey.
Now the question is when and why did LGBT rights became so controversial?
According to my study and research, I know that in every culture and society, homosexuality existed. These individuals were part of Muslims and Christian households historically. Although they had always been looked down upon but isn't it the law of nature when you oppress someone for an extended period of time then there will always be a backlash. Now in almost the last 50 years when the LGBT community started fighting for their basic human rights, why 'other' humans are getting offended by it?
There is always a very strong Muslim and Christian logic for not accepting them in our society. But again I have a question, who gave these religious leaders the rights to be so venomously critical of another human being. Aren't these religious leaders the one who are just infiltrating the extremism in the masses?
Again I find myself questioning:
Why the 'masses' are scared of such a small community?
Why the 'masses' are not afraid of the destruction of the planet through the tentacles of consumerism?
Why the 'masses' are not afraid of the grim future of their own children?
Why the 'masses' are not ready to give basic human freedom to others?
Why the 'masses' are so scared of LGBT influences rather than all the other 99% of negative influences around them?
Why the 'masses' are not ready to choose the righteous paths for themselves rather than pointing fingers at others?
More than 40 years of my life in this world has let me encounter many interesting humans. And I must say that members of LGBT community are the best so far. One of my gay acquaintances, is such a humble, enthusiastic and intelligent soul. His research, inquisitiveness and level of respect is always commendable. Another one is transgender. In the earlier years, he used to be quiet and lost most of the time. But now that he and his family has accepted him; he has turned out to be an excellent student.
At the end, I feel we humans are just scared of 'different'. Anything or anyone who is different is a source of threat so we fight against it vehemently behind the shield of religion or culture or tradition.
You do not like a transgender then stay away from them. You feel that homosexuals will corrupt your generation then educate your children. But as a human first JUDGE yourself than another human being.
I am sure after reading this many are going to give me the logical reasons from the Holy books of the Bible and Quran. I admit I might be wrong in what I believe BUT my last question is , have we humans solved all the problems in our lives to focus on hatred?
Liza Minnelli said, "I learned that 'different' meant many things: freedom, oppression, celebration, sadness, responsibility, hiding, protesting, sharing, but most of all being true to one’s self no matter the price."
Live and let live. By doing this we will notice many successful and positive changes in our lives.
Your suggestions and comments are welcome.
I am somewhat lurking between those both groups of thoughts. Still couldn't decide, maybe coz I don't have much knowledge on the issue.
But it is an issue all over the world, that much is beyond dispute.
thats the whole idea...if it is an issue then there must be a solution...but unfortunately no one is working towards a solution
In amsterdam there's a gaypride every year. People dress horrible on this day(sometimes they aren't even dressed) and act like morons. Many people find it disgusting to see people acting like this, but you can't really say this publicly since you're apparently against homosexuals then. This is also creating a bad picture for homosexuals who are acting respectful and civilized. Because many people are sick of this movement being forced up their throats, they're making the problem even worse for everybody. I think it's really sad...
well i have noticed one more thing....many idiots just take part in the parades and behave rowdy....of course it does bring a bad name to the LGBT
Yes that's true. This is just what I have experienced in Amsterdam though. I do not how it goes in other countries. I just know that many homosexuals in The Netherlands who do not participate in these parades have a very specific reason not to.
seee.....as i said in my blog....i think the masses are scared of 'different' and they adopt crazy ways to react
I don't think they are scared honestly. I think some movements ruin it for themselves by telling others what to accept and what not. By doing this, some big groups of people will obviously become mad about it. Even more, if these people are not allowed to give their honest opinion of why they think it is wrong. Btw, I am not against homosexuals. I just do not agree with activists creating problems and playing the victim, while making it even worse for homosexuals who have already accepted the fact that some people just do not agree with their decisions in life. Because that is just how life works.
From 'scared' i mean a general human tendency which makes you adopt a severe reaction against anything that they do not understand...
and yes you are right
What I think, acceptance by the society is the main issue at the end of this community. While on the other hand, society thinks that this curse may not be promoted. In whole scenario, the former class is getting advantage like Mr. Zuckerberg created Facebook dp filter to show solidarity with them which is a kind of promotion
