That's a hilarious picture. The eyes, are digging deep into my soul begging for an upvote! hahahaha
Don't let her win! Resist!
As a "minnow", I am under the impression this is the direct result of the transitional phase from other social media platforms and the preconceived notions of proper etiquette where it was a race to see who could get the most votes(followers) for high school prom king/queen. Not that I am justifying or advocating their actions and I am not making excuses for anyone, myself included. This isn't like any other social media platform and once people have a clear understanding of that I believe is when ALL the magic will happen.
Starting off new in Steemit is like hitchhiking on the autobahn. Chances are nobody is going to slow down, so you have to just jump the hood of the next car and hang on for dear life until you are able to make it to the passenger seat. From there, hopefully the driver is kind enough to let you watch how they shift through the gears and actually drive in a safe manner where you aren't causing a pileup in your rear view mirror.
As a community, this is like a huge dance. The music has started and everyone is finding their rhythm. Some are able to find the beat, while others have two left feet. The important thing is that we all have fun and try not to step on anyone's toes. With that being said, it is time for me to Stop, Drop and Lock it...thank you for your patience and understanding.
This gave me the greatest mental image ever. haha Your comment is well thought out, and I totally agree, the transition from normal social media plays a huge part in the spammy comments. I have faith that one day, this platform will be the best social media site ever!
Yeah, I am a visual person, but I can't draw or paint. I am happy that I was able to find the right words to add a moving picture in your head. Hopefully it involved pastel colors and a cool soundtrack.
As a community, we are in the middle of a huge transition period a paradigm shift of monumental scale.
The soundtrack was badass - Straight out of a Bruce Willis movie.
I agree!
SWEET!!! Time to get the adrenaline pumping...
word to that brother ;)
Shades are on, top is down, radio is blasting and now it's time to work these gears like Tommy Lee slaps the drums.
It is a strange and new dynamic compared to Google+. I have 11K followers over there, but Google censors content. The site is dead because of it too. There's no point in engaging with people to further liberty or share your passions anymore.
I came to Steemit to share my knowledge about residential security and perhaps a little about private investigation (I don't want to share too much to avoid getting people into legal or other trouble). It is weird to me though that there isn't even a category here for residentialsecurity.
Most people here have homes, right? Sure, they may live in an apartment, but it still benefits from good security. The only security category here though is for crypto and other IT security.
I've wasted 20 years of my life running on an IT hamster wheel (job). I'm not doing it anymore. I'm going to be a PI and help people with residential security. I'm here to pursue those passions and share them with others.
Hopefully, Steemians see value in what I have to share.
Very interesting! You would definitely be the first person talking about these things here, so that could work to your benefit!
I am puzzled as to why there are no other security people here. There seems to be no private investigators or locksmiths or anyone related to security services. Am I missing something? It seems like valuable content to share that people would be interested in, right? Everyone has a house. Everyone could benefit from better personal security too.
You would think so!
@finnian - I would love to hear about home security or PI stuff - Just a suggestion but maybe tell some stories of real life experiences from your PI work - (no real names obviously) but I always wanted to be on a stakeout like in those cheesy 80's movies where they are eating pizza in a car with binoculars and never end up seeing anything cool - hopefully you have tho and your niche could be in storytelling the PI lifestyle - Real talk - I know this post is old but maybe you'll read your replies ya digg?
Youm sir, win at engagement, @sirwin
This community is the definition of a melting pot and an ability for like minded individuals to met and also get the opportunity to be exposed to something they may have never heard of before. Up until last week, I had never heard of Steemit and look at me now, I feel like I am one of it's biggest advocates.
Yup. Friends give me a hard time because crypto and Steemit is what I talk to much :D
There is nothing wrong with being passionate about something. Having a strong convection and knowing that in your heart of hearts that no matter what the "nay says" may say, that you are on the right path. It is the bold risk takers that are rewarded the greatest. We are kindred souls here and that is fantastic.
Good chanse to follow :)

fucking thankyou Rigaroni!!! Shit drives me crazy, I'm always tempted to flag people...I actually DID on someone else's post the other day, and they wrote me a nice message asking me to please stop harassing their followers :P Woops, I took it back and apologized...guess I should stick to people who are on my posts.
At any rate, i LOVE your face!!!! Im assuming thats you, I don't know, great face though
ah maybe not your face...I still love it
@itchykitten you might like the comment I made about that recently in a similar post.
Bad drakos! Bad, bad!
(see above)
(see above) where? what?
My post, duuuuuh! ;)
Ah lol. @itchykitten and I are already followers of eachother 🤣, instead of pasting what I said in the other post, I referenced it. I wasn't asking him to "follow me follow you" crap. Did you even look at the comment I linked?
Yes I did. I'm just being an asshole - I'm learning to embrace who I really am...LOL! But for real, it was actually just a joke.
🤣🤣🤣 For a second you got me worried, I thought you were angry, and given your high reputation I was fearing a dreadful downvote!
Hahaha Yeah, people can get sensitive at times, but I guess sticking to our own followers and posts is probably the better idea.
Thanks so much for awesome comment, buddy! I know engagement when I see it. ;)
As my posts usually dont engage so many people, I am always a bit excited if I see a red number at the reply tab and always I get a bit mad if its a copy pasted " nice post! plz follow me!"
I think people need to realize that a huge following means nothing, if its only "empty" followers you get through this. They will not engage with your content and all it does is filling your feed with posts you are propaply not really interested in and vice versa.
Oh my goodness, I wrote something very similar yesterday. I get really excited to see that comment and then poof. No more excitement when the comment that was left has nothing to do with the post and they really aren't engaging with you. Just trying to build up their followers numbers. I guess I'm getting better at ignoring it now though!
Gatorskin +1!!!
Exactly, empty followers do nothing for your following. I agree, for sure!
Agree as well. I like to give my follows to members bringing the content that I like and enjoy reading. So my feed is full of interesting articles and valuable information. Following just for a follow back creates a fake sense of being followed, since most of them will come from people that are not interested in your content. I prefer to go to a slower peace but more solid and trustable. Giving follows away devaluates the quality of Steemit conten, for sure. While, following only good content providing members, does the opposite.
Thanks for such a great post!
Woot woot! I hear ya, man!
Ahhh tell me about it. Drives me nuts!
It's made me crazy. There has been a huge influx of it recently.
Yes I get them on most posts sadly :-(
I've gotten them on mine also in recent days. I try to just ignore them. haha
Me too i've given up trying to advise lol
as new people are coming on the platform and they think that this is the best way to get to the top, but i think it is not their fault either, because there are very little guidance for them on the internet, these type of people just heard that you can earn on the internet and they are here for the money only, sure we all want money at the end but at least we some mature community members are a little educated in this matter @rigaronib
That's why I'm edumacating them! Haha ;)
Yes very annoying..and also annoying is that it works quite well for some of them. They are being rewarded not for their content/engagement, but rather for their spamming..
Good point, I agree
This is true! Luckily, their tactics work much more slowly. :) Thanks for your comment, @foodie.warrior!
I totally agree! I started that way for like a day! and was like Well, if they truly dont check their feed and are just here to make a quick buck then why would i want them to follow me anyways? I want followers who actually find and like my stuff!
Exactly!
Loved your informative post, please upvote and follow my blog! HA HA I cannot resist!
While you are right, I feel for new users like my friend who I just bought to steemit, its hard to carve a following, and she is trying to put up valuable content.
Of course it can be difficult! Any social media platform is difficult to get started on, but my wife, @uglysweater, is a recent example that engagement is the only legitimate way to success.
She began commenting and engaging people exactly 16 days ago, 5 days later she made her first ever post and within those 16 days she has gained 221 followers. That is huge! Her following has grown way faster than mine did when I started last August.
And her only secret tactic?
Nothing more than engagement. :)
Btw, what is your friend's handle on here?
Oh sure no dis-agreement from me there, its definately something you have to work at, my friend is here just a few days her handle is @demilee-fitness
Oh and yeas I remember @uglysweater, she made a really nice intro post
For sure! Thanks for engaging, @scalextrix. You da man.
Ok cool - consider her followed, I will watch for her content. :)
Wow, neat! I'm glad that you remember her!
Thanks alot @rigaronib, see you around the campfire again soon I hope
Sounds good to me, man! Have an awesome Sunday.
LOL, the private messages on these follow me/upvote me people is insane on steemit chat 🤣, if they spent more time commenting like normal people aka the 'social' part you mention, things would be a lot easier for them 😁
I know, They are getting bad on Steemit.chat.
Engagement is key!
Darn right, these people will quit after a few days and then a new batch will come through doing the same stuff with the same results. The ones that interact normally are the ones that will level up 🙌
That's for sure! haha Thanks for the comment, @sandstorm!
Cheers dude! have a great Sunday 😎
Hey, you do the same! :D
What about this....
people who don't follow me are 300% more likely to develope and STD at some point in their lifetime. If you don't want an STD you should follow me and upvote as well
lol
Aiy! Atleast that one makes me laugh! Haha
