RE: My general concerns about steemit, not a rant just a observation!
I think it's so premature to ask friends and family to try Steemit. They are used to their friends and family on Facebook, where it's enough to "like" the snapshot of the little nephew playing with the family dog. They probably didn't even get on Facebook until it had been around for a long time. Maybe they are involved in a Facebook group or two, maybe not. But they aren't writing any real content for those groups or their family, just posting snippets and photo albums -- sometimes 57 pictures in the photo album, just because that's how many pictures they took while they were on vacation. They want to share memes and cute videos that their friends have shared.
So who should you recruit? Anyone who has a message that they want to get out. Anyone who wants to cultivate a larger community around a specific subject or set of values. Anyone who is thinking about having their own blog for any reason. Anyone who has a blog or YouTube channel, who wants to expand their audience or repurpose their content. Anyone who is on Tumblr, who will be looking for a new home when the sale to Verizon goes through and support for that platform becomes a business liability. I would suggest kids (over 13) because they have so much time and aren't scared by new things, but with the blockchain, everything is there forever, so maybe that's setting them up for trouble ahead.
I would say that's my 2 cents, but I don't think I have that yet! haha
