I'll just start with a simple list. If you don't get pumped, this app is probably not for you. If you are interested in non-subjects like social and humanities this app is also not for you. It's all for hard sciences and they don't cover all aspects. I'd love to see more astronomy related papers, quantum mechanics and interesting and practically usable psychology research papers. But it's a great list for a free app.

-Get access to otherwise expensive publications
-Great for science researchers like me and general public

-Potential violation of copy rights
Wow I'm surprised. As a high school student in Korea who dreams of future science, it is a pleasure to have such a steam hunt! Cheer up!!
I guess this app already featured in Steemhunt.
Hmm. I'm reserving judgement. Knowing how academic articles are tied up in the copyright of the publishing journals (even though the research is often paid for by public funding - a disgrace that seems to run under the radar), I don't see how these apps can bypass the journals and make these articles open access. At least, without being sued by the journals because they legally own the articles. For anyone who really wants to read an academic article without paying the stupid price often attached, the best thing to do is to mail the author directly. Having said that, I'll download the app and see how it works out.
