Current state of Steem festivals(Steemfests)

Steem festivals are usually called #SteemFests and range from small gatherings of Steemians and their friends and family to enjoy their success on Steemit to huge celebration with media coverage.

Current culture of celebrating Steem festivals

Historically, #SteemFests have been celebrated as a way of commemorating personal milestones and only a few times as a way of commemorating collective milestones.

How to properly Steem festivals

Give it a purpose

Gathering just to celebrate your personal Steemit achievements and birthdays and using the occasion as an opportunity to spend your Steem Backed Dollars is not enough. We can do more, give #SteemFests purposes beyond celebration.

Shoot a video for the community!

In this age of smartphone cameras, anyone can shoot a good video with their smartphones. If you can shoot videos about your new pet, your friend's new cycle and even yourself while you cook, why not shoot a video of your #SteemFest?

Usually the only media we get from Steem Fests are pictures of people wearing Steem branded t-shirts and smiling with cards about Steem. We deserve atleast a 5 minutes video of the event!

Create an event on Facebook!

People create events on Facebook for everything else excerpt Steem fests. Can you recall the last time you saw a Steem fest event on Facebook or got an invite to one?

It would be great if Steemians took advantage of this feature of Facebook as it could be used to attract more people to Steem and Steem Fest.

Make it generous

As a Steemian, the most valuable digital gift you cash share with someone is Steem(Steemit/Busy.org). Merely distributing insignificant amounts of Steem Backed Dollars is not an act of kindness.

The most generous act any Steemian can show is to introduce new people to Steem and help them get established on it. Instead of simple distributing Steem, Steem Power and Steem Backed Dollars to people who are already Steemians, we can channel those resources into bring in new people to Steemit!
