It's official, time travel exists.

Just yesterday I posted the worst movie based on the worst book contest. But now, suddenly, it's a month later. How did that happen?

Life happened and time flew by so fast I couldn't catch up. My apologies to those that entered but didn't get a comment from me.

But enough with the excuses! It's time to announce a winner.

And the wheel says...

bad movie bad books.gif

Congratulations @stever82!

And because I'm so late, I've doubled the prize. You got 4 SBI shares!

Now for the final contest in the series:

What is the best book made into the best movie?

Interpret that as you will. For me it doesn't mean the movie was a great representation of the book, just that it was a great movie. Dune comes to mind as an example. Well, at least one of the movie adaptations (and I heard another is in the works). And though it isn't made yet, I have high hopes for Ringworld whenever it might come.

But for this contest let's stick to movies already made.

Now I want to hear yours!

Here are the rules:

  • Comment your answer in the post with an explanation of why you chose it. Answers without the explanation won't be counted in the contest.

  • I'll choose the winner by random draw (I know I'll never be able to pick!) and sponsor them for 2 SBI shares.

That's it! Of course upvotes and resteems appreciated but not part of the contest.

Slumdog Millionaire from Q & A the Original Novel by Vikas Swarup.

The reason I chose this film is:

First, the film was raised because it was inspired by the Ask and Question (A & Q) Novel, and the novel was also lifted from a true story. As our readers will be brought to follow the life story of someone who is sad, hard, and full of trials, but managed to bring him to win the jackpot on the prestigious quiz. The story of a restaurant waiter who won a one billion rupee quiz named Ram Mohammad Thomas. This motivational story can inspire everyone because of our strong character and ability to capture social reality there.

When winning, the film's character is also suspected. there seems to be a social message that the poor deserve suspicion, even though they have the same opportunities as the rich, smarter and the urban community.

third, fortunately. no one suspects that the character in the film and the novel will succeed even though his knowledge is not as broad as other people. the success of guessing answers based on random reads made him lucky to win the contest.

I've heard of the movie but I've never seen it. It sounds like a gut-wrenching drama which I try to avoid at all costs.

Thank you for taking the time to write out your reasoning. You're entered!

I vote for The English Patient by Michael Ondaatje. It is a tale of four broken nomadic people trying to heal while being thrown together and remembering past wounds, so this is right up my alley.

I read the book long before the movie came out. As soon as I was done with my first reading, I turned back to page one and read it again. This has never happened for me before or since. I have re-read it a few times since then.

The language is strong and intriguing, and I can read a page or two a few times while I am immersed in the book. The details are captivating and I know nothing about any of the subject matter, so I find it fascinating.

When the movie came out I was not sure I should see it, but I am very glad I did. It is fairly true to the plot and the visuals make me enjoy the book even more now.

This looked like a great movie, but I try to avoid dramas so I'll go on your opinion and so many others that have said it is a great movie. The book must be too if you went right back to reading it so quickly! I've had books I've loved and didn't want to end but I've never restarted so quickly.

Thank you for your entry!

Interesting that you avoid dramas! I don't go at all anymore so I have to dig into the past for your contest. I would say in this case the book was better than the movie, but both were very good. I don't know if I will ever start another book again like that, but it was cool to find one I wanted to :)

Ok... So according to me the best movie is 'the shawshank redemption' (1994) which is made from the great novel 'Rita hayworth and the shawshank redemption' (1992) written by Stephen King. Luckily 1994 is my birth year and also the year in which the movie got released! I am from India, the country of bollywood, but I often love to see hollywood movies. This one have made a place in my heart since i have watched the movie. Most of the movies focus on their main characters to attract people but this movie is not in their list. It is a mixture of a great story by Stiphen King and awesome acting skills by Morgan Freeman(oscar nominated) and Tim Robins. This was a story of a man who was convicted of the murder of his wife and her lover. The film projects his survival in a hell like shawshank state penitentiary prison where he met with morgan as a friend. The suspance, the real life feeling of how it feels to be in a jail ... I just enjoyed every bit of the film...it is the best movie that I have seen in hollywood. If you dont see the movie yet, see it now. Its an order my friend, or you will miss something great!

I have seen this one! It was before I swore off dramas of any kind. This movie was good and captivating but I found it to be tremendously sad but I won't say why so it doesn't spoil anything.

Have you read the book too? It's a King so I have to suppose it was good book too.

Thanks for your entry!

At first I saw the film, I randomly picked it, didnt know it was a master piece! But after watching the film I was astonished by the story, so i decided to read the book. The auther King is God mate , he is one the precious jewels in literature... I have to admit that. ♥

Hmm, I would say Ready Player One was a good interpretation as I found the book was an interesting look in the Sci-Fi Genre and that the movie displayed the future world in an interesting way, kind of reminded me of the Zixx Level one with the idea of immersive reality and is insight into where I think VR will move in the future. Perhaps with a VR token as the reward such as Vibe :P.

I loved that movie. Campy but in all the good ways. I plan to read the book with my son in the coming months so I'm glad to hear it's a good read.

Thanks for the entry!

Thank you!

hi @ntowl !
I will recommend “1984” even if for me reading the book first is highly highly recommended !! As the book it’s not happiness in the wonderland :) it warns on possible derive relative to an endlessl war and hierarchical society and as always a good reminder is good to have... :)
Have a sweet weekend !

Great book! I agree reading the book first is important. I watched the movie a long time ago but I remember liking it, though it was haunting.

Thank you for the entry!

Hello @ntowl and thanks for your answer !
I read it this summer, and made a nice series because I read Martin Eden by Jack London just after and it made a smooth double point of view :)

Well, that is a great pic, and a huge warning to todays society

thanks for your comment dear @elektropunkz :))
yeah, we have to keep that in our collective minds, not as a heavy weight more as a reminder of how the situation could slide !
I wish some good times for your weekend ;)

I have many favorite movies which are based on books. But the one i will be mentioning here is #TRAINSPOTTING (and i pick this for not one, but two reasons).

The first reason why is because the subjects in the movie/book (addiction to heroin) is something that i am familiar with. I also have lost myself and friends to that horrible drug. And nowadays i’m a bit ashamed to say, many of the scenes are familiar. luckily i have overcome this addiction for many years now ... but i have also lost many things and friends to this horrible substance (which the us army is still protectingbwith their troops in afghanistan, but that’s another story).

The 2nd (and most important) reason is this, it has come to my understanding that because of the recent opiod epedemic that is raging trough america right now, many people are cut off from their prescriptions to painkillers and those are turning to heroin and other drugs. I hope that with creating some awareness to this movie (and others movies about addiction like cristiane f, candy, spun) people can see these as a warning about what drug addiction can do to you, your body, soul and heart. And i hope that even if my comment helps just one kid to stay away from this. It is time good spent.

Peace

I'm glad to hear you're doing better now. I haven't watched the movie but I happen to live not far from the new "opioid capital of the America" in NH. It's so hard to believe the epidemic could do so much so quickly and in our small rural state.

Awareness can help so thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the entry.

Hello @ntowl. Thank you & yes, i am doing a whole lot better since i stopped my drug abuse almost twenty years ago. And untill this day, i am happy about that. You say that you have not seen the movies (or read the books), they are both well worth your time. Even though the stories are based in the eightees and ninetees. I am saying both movies, because i forgot to post yesterday that since a year ago (2017), 21 years later after the original 1996 release, trainspotting has a sequal called T2. Both movies are based on novels (trainspotting & Porno) written by Irvine Welsh & both movies are directed by Danny Boyle. I am not sure if you are aware, but nowadays there are some documentaries about the opiod epidemic in the rural states. I forgot the title, if i remember i will get back to this. But also british journalis jacques thoureaux and Also the vice media channel made some stories about this. I wish you a nice day. And i am following, because as a movie fanatic, i like these kind of posts.

My favourite movie would be "Your Name" adapted from the novel, you guessed it, Your name.
Every moment in the animation is precious, this is outlined by the amazing art produced, also key moments that make you contemplate what you're and what you're going to do are deeply embedded into this. Almost without uncertainty, I love this film because of its romance, it always sparks me how two people can have so much trust in each other that they are willing to sacrifice each other for the sake of the one.

Sounds incredibly touching and dramatic. I've never heard of it. If I weren't avoid drama I'd check it out.

Thank you for the entry!

The never ending story.
I read the book at least three times, now i will read it to my childrens.
Is one of the "must" of the fantasy genre. Is an old one but still have something special.

Did you like the movie? It was @improv's choice for the worst movie from the best book contest (number 2 in this series). But I think he said it was because the book was so so good, the movie just didn't live up to it.

I happen to like the movie but I've never read the book (though I promised @improv would!).

Thanks for the entry!

It's true. The Neverending Story is the best book that has ever been written, and the movie is merely a movie.
