Excited about TRON&Steem/Steemit collaboration

in #steem5 years ago

Today, TRON joins forces with the Steem community & Steemit. We are so excited about this collaboration and value the voice of this thriving community.

By committing a meaningful percentage of the STEEM token, TRON now aligns the same interests with the Steem community, to bring the value to STEEM token, to keep the core value of decentralization, to grow a one-of-a-kind decentralized social media platform.

Steem community and Steemit team have been pioneering the decentralized social media initiative and now with this strategic partnership, together we have more resources, capital and bandwidth to make this goal achievable. The fact both TRON and STEEM went up today post the announcement only proves that the market and industry at large view this partnership as a mutually beneficial alliance. We will work closely with the Steemit team and Steem community on the details of how we will execute this collaboration step by step.

Please join us in this endeavor, follow me on Twitter @justinsuntron, and voice your opinions as we pursue this exciting journey!! Thank you!

Welcome, I'm glad to see Tron's resources behind Steem now. However, to align with "interests of the Steem community" and "keep the core value of decentralisation", you'll have to cancel the swap. Maintain status quo on the Steem chain, let it develop independently. Of course, you have invested in it, so definitely build interop bridges with Tron and in the long term even integrate Steem with Tron, but please make this a gradual thing that happens over years. Not a sudden token swap.

PS: Editing this a day later, post live stream. Thank you for listening and taking the correct decision. My final thoughts are here.

We have yet to see a thorough analysis of the benefits of all the options. They need to be presented to allow stakeholders to discuss and choose. Ideally, Justin understands the anarcho principles that drew many of the community here together in the first place. If not, Justin, I suggest studying the idea of 'no rulers' that underpins the system. :)

Here’s an idea.... To encourage TRON people to get on Steemit how about a Steem airdrop ? ..... .10 Steem fo every TRX we hold. @justinsunsteemit

I agree with you bro...

It’s at least something he should consult with the community about. The more he listens to us, the more of us are likely to stay. Money Incentives will keep a few of us but if he wants what he is paying for he should make sure we don’t erase a lot of the good developments we’ve made and undermine some of the people who’ve been great gatekeepers who kept spam and reward pool abuse away, as well as those who put so much time and effort into community and content

he will combine steem and tron like this guy pineapple and pen

Im not sure this will work out :)

:((☆

42 cents for a 0-word post, not bad! Maybe the Steem blockchain experiment is working, after all?!

What are you saying... PPAP was an absolute HIT and continues to be ... 🖋🍍🍎🖋 4 eva...

:D

meow i want pineapple thx :P

Hahaha. Well at least we will get some laughs out of it

in the longrun, if steem is proven to be a decentralized platform/social media, money and attention will flow in like crazy. it'll be bigger than anything justin by himself can bring to the table. but for the longest time, steem was more centralized around ned than fb is to zuckerberg. i'm just curious if justin can change that. (doubts seeping in seeing him controling most of super representatives on tron and dlive policies talking about community guidelines like google..)
i wanna know if justin can prove me wrong.

thanks to justin for not being hostile on his first live communication attempt with the steem community. i hope he continues to read the comments and maybe there could be mutual respect.

ned was a meme. he set the bar extremely low, but i hope justin can be reasonable with the existing userbase that remain loyal to the steem blockchain, not a website.

I think that Steem is not centralized mainly around Ned, but around the whales. The center of the activity is also around them.

I said "was". Ned WAS the biggest whale. Now its justin. We have to wait and see if hes gonna be a dictator or a facilitator.

at the very least it could disrupt the status quo where the same six or seven people + steemit have been laying down the law for years now ...
time will tell , but i assume no one has any delusions about the fact that

just like most of 'us' downhere

they're first of all in it for the money, right ... second maybe world domination ... eos voice might tear their pants with the proclamation that they're 'going up against facebook' (lol, not even google could take even a chunk away with all its billions and supreme strategies) ... and also ..

from what little i have read and seen i feel mister Sun is way better in the marketing department than the current protectorate here...

im seriously curious to see where that is going

I think it's something of a joke to think that Steem could represent a real challenge to Facebook.

The minds platform resembles the experience of Facebook much closer, has a similar promise of rewards for contributing to the forum, and even both combined user bases doesn't even make a dent in Facebook.

i doubt steemit could make a dent the way it is ... but it's actually Eos / block.one(?) Voice claiming to go after facebook and mister Justin Sun announcing a big announcement on the day the announced themselves and then this happens ... so best guess is he wants something against what he maybe sees as one of his big rivals and this thing here is already well-developed (software-wise) and probably came at a bargain , lol, but i doubt we'll ever see the details of that deal in public in the land of decentralization-mythos , in the end the only decentralized thing is still the classic chains with their thousands of nodes but even there its a select group developing.

IF and thats if steemit were an actual 'thing' and it would be anything to facebook, not even a threat, then zuck would have bid on it, just like he did instagram

the fact that he never even blinks at it says plenty ...

Atari (back in 'the day) killed themselves trying to be Sony or Nintendo while they simply could have been Atari

competitive psychopaths (i think they call them CEO's or something) can be freakishly weird people with strange notions about winning to the point of self-destruction (with ample collateral damage :)

Good observation, this site is by the whales for whales, and every decision I've seen from the top has been to benefit the whales, even at the expense of minnows experience with the platform.

Then, out of the other side of their face, the whales talk about how to appeal to more minnows to come and post and bring value, but they clearly don't want their share of profits to go down that would be required to keep minnows posting.

would it be possible to create some sort of a (crosschain) atomic swap process between tron and steem? where users can freely trade them in a decentralized manner?

it's probably much harder to implement compared to a single token swap event on poloniex, but in the long term, it could trigger an actual fusion of communities without the chaos of a forced migration.

Yes, should be possible to have an interop bridge.

Keep the chains separate. I dumped my text specifically to get away from Justin Suns antics that kept manipulating trx market down.

Yeah the swap thing is the deal breaker for me! That's the main issue!!

can hardly say any of the neo-chains are decentralized at all ... unless you call 20 (voting) witnesses of which maybe seven trade places at the top + one company developing a de-centralized system. It's like euh
less people in the government deciding

@justinsunsteemit : i think there's one that absolutely needs doing : to cap the max supply ... its mathematically impossible to hold dollar value on to something that will eventually surpass the total amount of dollars in the world and at the end of the day i buy me a sandwich in euros, your local whale buys a local lambo with dollar ...

as for the rest : ... steemit is not steem , so ... the whole downvote-system is crooked, you just need to 'own more' and that makes you more right but im long done wasting breath on that ...

'the community' ... sounds nice but you might find it less interactive and responsive than expected after a while, however if there's something to be had maybe , like google would hand out cash for people who found and documented proof of bugs in chrome ...

good luck, what's the hidden agenda ? billionnaires don't just come in to save the day out of altruism ... :) not in the world, and that's where we are ... suddenly right after the announcement of eos voice and your anouncement that there would be major news. Assuming you and the eos-folk dont really get it off too well, shacking up with Ned and the gang, who probably doesnt get it off too well with Larrimer ...

that's speculation, and its rhetorical anyway. If anything im glad to see a real player on the steemitboard ... i eagerly await whatever comes of it

Here’s an idea.... To encourage TRON people to get on Steemit how about a Steem airdrop ? ..... .10 Steem fo every TRX we hold. @justinsunsteemit

They announced they would do this when they first announced the swap to the new Steem token on Tron. Of course, the swap is now postponed, but I think we'll still see the Tron airdrop at some point...

Hi @justinsunsteemit. It is great to see you here and glad to see that your values align with Steem. There are several win-wins here that we all should be working for, but, as i am sure you are aware, we have to be very careful about the way we put the vision for this to the community.
Hopefully you are aware that based on the information that you have released so far, the community is very worried about what the next steps are and there is a lot of talk about a fork away from Tron within the Steem community as many members presently see this as a hostile take over by Tron and not a mutually beneficial partnership.
In order to calm nerves and bring stability to this deal, it would be beneficial for the communities from both chains, the Tron team and the Steemit Inc. team members if you could focus on the following with @ned in tomorrow's live stream:

  1. Win-win for Tron and Steem communities - what does it look like to you?
  2. A guarantee that you are not planning on swapping out the Steem token for a TronSteem token - from what i am reading on Steem from earlier today, this would basically cause the community to immediately fork away from Tron
  3. A guarantee that a win-win will be created by having Tron integrated into Steemit.com so that a dual relationship can work where both a Tron based token and the original Steem token can coexist on the same platform
  4. A guarantee / commitment that the current ongoing work on SMTs and communities development on steem will be continued to completion
  5. A guarantee that tokens currently listed on exchanges as the current Steem token will remain as such, and that the new Tron-Steem token will be a separate entity on exchanges

From what i have picked up today, these are the main concerns from the community and closing these items out in the live stream tomorrow would benefit everyone. Additionally, positive answers to these items will almost certainly result in token price boosts to both Tron and Steem and a sustainable growth together in the future. Taking on board what the community is saying, un-clear resolution of these issues will likely result in a break down in the deal and a hit to reputations on all sides, as well as a hard fork.

The STEEM token is an established name since 4 years. To swap it to another token, whatever the name would be, is fatal in my opinion.

Tron now owns STEEMIT Inc., but NOT the STEEM-Blockchain! As we all know, it cannot be owned, sold, whatever.

Not true! Now you may finally understand why DPOS is not a decentralised protocol. Experience is everything, right?

It will be a little odd for the Tron foundation to give a guarantee that directly contradicts what they already said they would do. Here's hoping, I guess.

For the avoidance of doubt, first impressions and a general feeling of collboration, these questions should be addressed specifically.

@starkerz I know your work and trajectory here, within our blockchain, the points you have mentioned express each of our questions, as a user of Steemit and part of the users of the Blockchain of Steem I have great expectations and many nerves at the same time, to see what will be the result of all this, I just hope that Steem as a currency does not disappear and that the concept of "decentralization" does not disappear completely.

#STEEMFOREVER

THIS.

Else we're going to be forking off from STEEMTRON and doing our own thing.

Klye, if you set up a fork, and this merger gets sketchy, I'll switch in a heartbeat. I am not tied to the brand if the brand changes its attitude toward the users for the worse.

Justin, I've been here for over 3 years. I have built a reputation and a library of content as well as personal connections. You must realize how jumpy we can be if you try to change too much. The community has been working to to decentralize everything here, and if you want to rein everything in and take control, it will not be good for the platform or the community. Tread lightly.

We should probably see if we have enough stake to counter him if he decides to do a hostile takeover.

We'll literally just fork STEEM into MEET and let them destroy the thing melding it into TRON, while we continue on this current chain like nothing happened but a name change..

I've got a fork proposal I'm working on.. If shit goes bad on the AMA tomorrow morning I'll be releasing the MEET fork proposal.

MEET would be a good name!

"Fork into MEET (meat)"
damn @klye got bars out here

I think we need to get together those people who can re-create STEEM.

This needs a meeting place.

There are also two options: a fork or a clone.

I have worked for a long time on the third option: an improved clone.

I believe a fork is the answer. Think of it like a screenshot of the block-chain before they make it a TRON token..

We can make a room on my discord server to talk about this if we wish

I just wanna be able to enjoy your art in peace, I mean whoever wants to go or come or stay or whatever can do just that.

just my personal opinions here but i think justin invested in steemit.com because he sees value in it as a webpage? i don't see how it's gonna retain its value once it switches over to a social media site that gives out tokens controlled by one man (no different than likes on fb or yt). but google and fb already have so much content and infrastructure so why would anyone use steemit?

my hopes were in steem being a platform where anyone can create smts (no matter what the interface/website is) and they compete against each other but at the same time have the censorship resistance so content might flourish?

first i'd have to listen to justin today on dlive, but how is he gonna guarantee anything when he's the biggest whale, the biggest super representative? when anything he says can be overturned by his own decisions in the future and nobody can stop him? is dlive running on "bittorent ecosystem" so that nobody can delete anything? even if someone uploads beheading videos? or is justin now xijinping of steem that decides everything?

I am a little curious to know what will happen to SMTs.. 🤔

Publishers can launch their token on steem, which will be on tron. It's not hard. all the infrastructure is ready to go. This will be a smooth transition according to me.

i'm a little curious here and i wanna be friendly. how would you write a blockchain so what you do on steem is automatically synced on tron? with 100% verification and reasonably enough decentralization? (unless you're talking about some servers, money, and other resources owned by justin.. which still cannot compete against big tech in terms of centralization, speed, availability, convenience, etc?) launching an SMT on steem and suddenly it "being" on tron doesn't sound like an atomic swap, so i don't understand what that transition is and how smooth it'll be.

We need answers to all of these questions for sure otherwise things could spin out of control pretty quickly.

what about SMT ? my main question

Welcome to Steem. Looking forward to a bright future, where Steem (the blockchain) can co-exist with tron helping their user communities - specially the spanish speaking ones - to find also a digital home to interact, share and collaborate. You will soon notice that Steem is not only a breaking trough technology but a passion. A way of life. Beeing steemian does not just mean holding a token or using a dapp. It’s a way of life. It’s the hope for a new paradigm of human interaction based on transparency, openness, traceability, immutability and information ownership. It would be also great to see sooner than later a roadmap and a vision from your side as a stakeholder in the network and as a new owner of its most used dapp and brand.

See you around and again, welcome.

Bien dicho!!! Vienen tiempos de incertidumbre... Veremos cómo va esta "sociedad".

I see the abusive shill don’t dare flag back at whales.

Your day will come. And your nonchalant shitpost upvoting will come to an end as well.

I hope you will honor and respect the community here that has worked so hard to create value through their words, their art, their code, their investments, and their friendships.

Thank you for posting here and engaging directly.

The name can change, but the relationships we have built here as Steemans is very unique, and not something you'll find on most if any social networks. We share NEW creative content, great ideas, and give no attention to negativity. We are not a blockchain, we are not a website, we are a group of thriving crypto enthusiasts that looked for more and found each other.

Yes, this fact is what most people don't see about our core community.

AMA link for tomorrow at 9 am PST US: https://dlive.tv/justinsun

Well said.

Thanks for piping up.

i'm 50/50 on whether he's gonna respect it or not but i guess we'll see.

I remember when I suggested to Justin on Twitter many many moons ago, that Tron needed a social network, and that STEEM was gravely wounded, stumbling around in the dark .. never thought in a million years .. lol

💪🏼🙌🏼💯

I dropped a question on the AMA seems to be getting some good upvotes, people are curious if you get a cut here etc

I will be as well.

I really hope that important core members/promoters/developers/investors like you are listened to and respected.

Welcome @justinsunsteemit. It's a pleasure to have you here. I could see your arrival being great for Steem. I could see some bad things too. But I'm happy to give you the benefit of the doubt and listen to you and your team tomorrow. Here's hoping for a strong, mutually beneficial, and voluntary path forward that expands the reach of our community, improves our tech, and onboards the masses.

When we're done listening to your team and asking questions many of us are getting together to have a public conversation about the things you've shared and how the community, in particular the consensus witnesses, react to them. The event is called a "Steem Witness Forum." This one will also likely have a time for just the witnesses, and then the entire community to share their thoughts. You're welcome to join us and engage with the good people of the chain.

Many of the community lives in Discord. You can join through http://minnowpond.org if you or team members would care to have a listen. We'll start immediately after Dlive event.

I'll have one question tomorrow.. "What will this merger mean for Steem Power hodlers?"

Not sure at all

Let’s hope that there is good engagement from @justinsunsteemit. I will be listening, reading and watching with great interest.

I don't worry, if you are confident, cane vecchio!
Steem on, tron on, lol.

Imma jump on the bandwagon and welcome you here. I have both high hopes and dark misgivings about what the future holds for all of us on Tron and Steem. I am greatly encouraged that you have undertaken to post here and introduce yourself to those of us that aren't particularly well acquainted with Tron and your work there.

"...keep the core value of decentralization..."

This is one of my primary concerns, and I am relieved to hear you voice support. The other, equally important in my regard, primary concern I have is censorship resistance. Steem has been a free speech haven for many in a world in which censorship seems to be ever more a plague on our ability to understand and discuss our world.

Little could do more to harm the Steem community than to infringe on or roll back that ability to forthrightly debate our honest views. For me, relatively unfamiliar with you personally and professionally, I am trepidatious regarding what the future may hold.

I would be greatly comforted, again, were you to vouchsafe our commitment and dedication to censorship resistance.

I hope this event enables Steem to attain it's full blossoming that has heretofore been out of our reach. I am confident properly valuing social interactions and human communities can enable a paradigm shift of previously inconceivable proportion. In economic terms, if we build a rational society, investors will buy in. People want to live in freedom and prosperity. If Steem and Tron enable both, aiming at the moon will be shooting low.

Again, welcome.

Thanks!
