STEEM-POCALYPSE SURVIVAL GAME SEASON 5 - DAY 2 ROUND 2 - 100 SBD Prize Pool So Far
Time to eat or die.
Please be fully aware that this is an elimination game where only the players that are already signed up can participate. Anyone not already signed up that is interesting in playing must wait until Season 6 to do so.
To help @papa-pepper run this game, please DO NOT reply if you are not already playing this game. If you are playing this game, please do not reply to this post either, reply to my comment below that contains the option that you want to pick. I will provide a separate comment for each option given. If players do not reply to an Option Comment, they will be eliminated. Thank you. Play by the rules and live to play another day (as long as you don't die).
Please also make sure to reply to the Option Comment below. For each option provided, I will make a reply to my own post. Players should find the reply of the option that they wish to choose and reply to that comment. This will also help streamline gameplay as we move forward. Players should also mention any items that they have found replying to avoid losing them.
DAY 2 ROUND 1 RESULTS
The day was just dawning in our last round, and the violence of the night was over, but snipers and other hazards that come with daytime were about to start. The players had been up all night and were given the option to either try to find a place for a nap or continue on.
Let's see who chose which options and how it worked out for them.
OPTION 1 - Try to hide and sleep under the bush, keeping your eyes open for anything edible.
The players that chose this option crawled deep into the bushes to find a place to nap. They also kept their eyes open for anything edible. Interestingly enough, one of the bushes looked like this.
Yes! An American Beautyberry bush! I featured it in my THE EDIBLE OUTDOORS series ten months ago. Not only did they find a safe place to sleep, they got to eat too, which means that any backup food supplies are still on hand for later. The players who chose this option will now have to eat prior to the end of Day 4 in order to avoid starvation
OPTION 2 - Try to hide and sleep up in the tree, keeping your eyes open for anything edible.
The players who chose option found a dense tree to climb into . They figured that if the tree were tall enough and they climbed high enough, no one would be able to see them. Thankfully, they were correct. Also, they found something interesting in the tree.
It happened to be a Lime Tree! Sure their nap-time snack was tart, but it was a very welcome meal in this desperate time. The players who chose this option will now have to eat prior to the end of Day 4 in order to avoid starvation. Any backup food supplies are still on hand for later use if need be.
OPTION 3 - Try to make a haphazard shelter/hiding place out of the old pallets to sleep in, keeping your eyes open for anything edible.
The players who chose Option 3 make a safe and secure structure that still looked haphazard enough to avoid detection. At some point while they slept, a group of survivors passed by, but they did not find our sleeping players. These players did look for anything edible, but they did not find anything. They will have to find something to eat or use their backup food supply (if available) prior to the end of this round in order to avoid starvation. (Back up food supplies automatically kick in.)
OPTION 4 - Try to just move on, skipping the nap, and keeping your eyes open for anything edible.
The players who chose to keep going were very weary. Still, they pressed on. Off in the distance, a cannibalistic sniper noticed the movement. Slowly and calmly, he lined up his sight. Long story short, the players who chose Option 4 last round have now been eliminated and eaten.
I tried to give hints like the following:
the players will be easy targets out in the open.
sleep deprivation will lead to bad judgment that could cost them their lives
Of course there are risks with every choice, this time, it just happened to be deadly.
DAY 2 ROUND 2 SCENARIO
After a good nap, the players decide to move along through the woods skirting the town. If they are deep enough in the forest, they should remain unseen. Still, there might be some good resources near the edge of the town, so they are hesitant to venture too far yet. As the day begins to really heat up, they pause in the shade.
Some players still must eat today and not everyone has a backup food supply. While they are waiting in the shade, a few options present themselves. They will have to move on shortly, but perhaps they could find something edible quick first. Players who do not need to eat can still search around too.
OPTIONS
Options are limited this round. Things are rapidly progressing and decisions should be made with caution, so always choose carefully.
* OPTION 1 - Try to find something buried in the dirt.
* OPTION 2 - Try to find something under an old board.
* OPTION 3 - Just try to rest for a moment and then get moving.
PLAYER RESPONSIBILITY
Each player must reply to my comment below containing the Option that they wish to choose within the next 24 hours.If they do not reply to the comment of their choice, they will be eliminated. Also, any players who do not reply in time will be eliminated from gameplay and have to wait until Season 6 to try again.
Also, if your player has found anything, you must mention it when you reply or you will lose it. If your player found a pistol, then reply with something like the following:

I often times find worms and other bugs under old boards and logs when I am fishing. Free bait in those days, and maybe in the future, but today, I hope it'll bait me into keeping my will to survive...

I couldn’t believe it but the tree that I climbed into was a lime tree and they were delicious. The tartness of them twisted my jaw into knots of pain and pleasure. Even though they were unbelievably tart and probably under-ripe, I don’t think I have ever eaten something so amazing. After getting into the tree, I felt very relaxed, well as relaxed as a man can be in the middle of an apocalypse. The sleep was almost immediate and thankfully the dream didn’t cause me to fall to my death.
The dream was of her, Kai. Her beautiful brown hair and crystal blue eyes. We were back at our home before everything fell apart. She was standing in the kitchen the sun sparkled off her immaculate bronze skin. She didn’t say anything. She just smiled at me and my heart began to melt once more. She was everything to me.
Then the window, above the sink, behind her began to darken and shift. The ceiling began to bleed, leaving puddles of thick blood on the floor. Kai was no longer smiling and looked horrified. Her clothes were and in rags. The blood on the floor started to spread towards her. When it touched her foot, she screamed and tears exploded from her eyes, magnifying the blue, making them look god-like. Then she was gone sucked into the blood. Just gone, never to be found. I tried to scream for her but there were no words. The air around me began to heat up and everything started to shimmer.
KAI! I screamed in my head and still nothing. I turned into circles searching for her. As I turned to face the direction of the ever-growing puddle of blood, that sucked her in, she was there. She was directly in front of me and I could feel her breath on my face. It had a metallic scent.
“WHY!” she screamed and I could feel a pressure in my head. “WHY DID YOU LET ME GO? WHY?” I could feel the floor shaking and then, “WHY? WHY? WHY?W…” I woke up sweat pouring out of me and my heart pounding.
After I realized it was only a dream and regained my composure, I started to move on again. It felt good to get some sleep, even though it was a horrible dream, my body appreciated it very much. The sun was hot today, so after I got down the road a little ways I figured I would take a little break under a tree. The shade is a wonderful thing. I sat at the base of the tree and enjoyed the silence for a minute, when something caught my eye next to me. It was a worm burrowing itself back into the ground. That’s weird, I thought. The dirt looked like it had been tampered with and recently. So, I started to dig.

The trees were a good choice. Sleep was deep and more comfortable than I expected. Plus, when I woke up, I discovered the tree had delicious, juicy limes growing in it. They made an excellent post-nap snack for me and my companions.
I am also happy that my companions who chose to stay on the ground in the bushes and in the makeshift pallet sheds are also still with us.
Well-fed, and with a backup of food in the form of a can of beans, as well as an unloaded pistol in my bag, I gather up my group, and we head out into the countryside.
We're still reluctant to go into the woods, though it would be safer, as there could still be resources around the edge of town. After a while, we pause in the shade to rest, as it's getting pretty hot outside. I almost miss our old building, but it honestly wasn't much cooler without electricity and AC.
While leaning against a tree in the shade, I notice the grass isn't growing too thickly here, probably because the leaves don't allow much sunlight on this spot. Squirrels could have hidden some nuts in the dirt; even acorns would be a welcome, edible commodity at this point. There may even be an edible root down there, or, if I'm very luck, a root vegetable.
There's no harm in checking, and the reward might be great. Besides, it won't be any great exertion to dig a few inches here in the shade. We need all the supplies we can get after all.
Kneeling down, I sink my fingernails into the soft, sandy soil, and pull it out of the ground, looking for hidden treasure.

After a great feed of berries, I crawled out of my hiding place in the bushes.
Armed with only an empty pistol and a pack of jerky, I see that the ground looks as if it may have been disturbed recently. Even though there is a chance there is a trap buried there, I figure there is more chance of something useful lying just under the dirt.
I choose option 1 To dig around in the dirt, maybe I can find a grub or something to wash down the berries?

Wow I must have been very tired last night... After having relaxing sleep under the bushes, then I only noticed the delicious berries hanging right above my head.
I decided to snack on some berries up to the point where I was feeling nice and full, before moving along.
I had a quick check to make sure that I still have my unloaded Pistol and Beef Jerky with me.
Inventory: 1 Unloaded Pistol, 1 Beef Jerky
I don't really need to eat or anything so decided to go with option 3 and take another rest break.
My delicate hands were not really made to be digging in the dirt and who knows what could be hiding below the surface.
I also saw a wooden log, but don't want to risk moving it and disturbing the poor wild life that might be living underneath it.
I will rather just sit hear peacefully admiring my surroundings while catching my breath.

Dear Diary,
I hid in the bushes last night to catch some sleep. When I woke up this morning I noticed the bush had this bright purple berries on it. I remembered from scouts that I can slowly test a berry to see if it was safe by rubbing the juice on my hand and then lips and make sure there was no burning sensations. After waiting a bit and feeling nothing I tasted the berries. They tasted a little astringent but overall not bad. I decided to eat my fill and hope for the best. At least I can save my beef jerky for later assuming these berries don’t make me sick. Figuring I have been here no enough I decided to get moving as soon as I could. I need to stay one step ahead of anyone who might be following me. With any luck I might be able to find safety. Maybe I will find her when I get there…

I have a magnesium firestarter and an extra food supply (beef jerky). I ate the Beautyberries while resting under the bush. I think at this point a little extra rest would be helpful. I choose to sit for a moment in the shade, mentally preparing myself for what's ahead.
Magnesium fire-starter still secure, as well as my backup food rations (a can of beans). The earlier nap in the lime tree was a two-fer! The heat is really hitting the oppressive stages, so I'm going to save my strength and rest in the shade for a bit. I'm going with Option 3 and hope I'm hidden well enough til it cools off.
