What if social media platforms start using the steemit "vote up and get rewarded" system? Good or bad?

in #social8 years ago

If the 'get liked and get money' system gets adopted by facebook, instagram and such social media platforms, will it be a good thing or a bad thing?

Personally I think it would be a good thing, but I use my social media for work and promotion already so I guess I am biased. One thing that could be bad though, is the creation of fake personas and fake lives on the social media just to attract likes and etc. I mean we have to remember that we can choose PRECISELY what the world will see of our lives on facebook and etc. Being in the fitness industry, I hear about stories where the public personalities online are totally different than in real life.

The guys and gals even photoshop the pictures of their bodies and muscles, pretend they own expensive cars, that they are "grinding" all day and night, being super motivated, post about how healhty they eat. When in reality it would not be impossible that they are actually posting old pictures of themselves from a year ago when they we're actually in shape, that they eat cheetos and KD and are complete A-holes in real life.

It's a bit crazy in my opinion on what those individuals will do to get likes and somehow profit from the social media platforms. With a direct corelation between likes and money rewards, I can see that those kind of people would really go out of their way and their "real" life to show something on the internet that is fake but will attract likes and and what not.

I love social media, but I always told myself I should stay real. I have good feedback so far and I think alot of people appreciate what's real. I guess we should start to get used to really think before clicking on a "like" button or who we are following and looking up to on the social medias!

What is your opinion? DISCUSS.

I don't think that it will be a problem for Facebook to implement some sort of a revenue share for its users in a way similar to what YouTube is already doing for publishers of good content. Don't expect it to be like steemit however, or wait, maybe it will be just like on steemit... easy for the celebrities and very hard for everyone else... :)

I would think that since money is being funneled to fake people and/or assholes, it would be in the interest of the stakeholders to expose those people as fakes and assholes so that people stop sending them money.
As long as their investment of time/money is 1$ lower than the money that would have gone to pieces of shit, it would be profitable to expose them as will be done.
They would have to come up with an effective system though. Like a combination of reputation, snopes.com, yelp, etc.
Now that people have money on the line, they should care more (and take action) what happens on the internet. That's probly a good thing imo!

Or maybe I just see the silver lining in everything..

I wonder what will happen. It's a pretty cool future we are going to have.
