Well, that's a logical thing to assume. But what happens is that because the roof extends several tens of centimeters away from the walls, the walls stay mostly clear of the snow. It just happens that because a lot of snow fell from the roof that the patio in the backyard had so much snow that some of it fell against the walls. The walls are way too strong to be affected by the amount of snow against them, which did not exceed about 30-40 cm anywhere. If could be different if 3-4 meters of snow had fallen.
