Of all the gifts given by God to mankind, there is no one greater than the presence of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit has many functions and activities. First, He works in the hearts of all people, everywhere. Jesus told His disciples that He would send the Spirit into the world to "convince the world of sin, and of justice, and of judgment" (John 16: 7-11). Everyone has a "conscience of God," whether they admit it or not, because the Spirit applies the truths of God in man's own mind, to convince them through righteous and sufficient arguments that they are sinners. The answer to that conviction leads man to salvation.
