Get Rewarded With Steem While Getting Fit
There are some great ways on Steem to get involved with active communities of people wanting to get fit and active while helping you ear more steem. I have posted three that I am currently active in, but if you know of any more, please let me know and I will add them to the list.
I know its not the reason why you should be getting healthy and active, but at the same time, I constantly ask myself "how can I encourage people to get away from their screens, get out the door and do something beneficial for their health?"
Our world is seeing a massive increase in disease related to being overweight and not eating a healthy diet. Take a couple of moments and you'll see statistics like these:
- We are seeing a massive increase in diagnosis of Diabetes in the population of India, due to their Westernization of their diet.
https://philmaffetone.com/the-overfat-pandemic-in-india/ - The prevalence of obesity of the adult population in the USA, has hit 40% and it is still climbing:
https://www.cdc.gov/obesity/data/adult.html - The rest of the world is following, with countries like Australia, New Zealand and England all showing increase in the number of people being declared as overweight. Some countries such as American Samoa, it is estimated that 95% of the population is overweight.

Its not just a matter of getting active, eating the right things also place a big part in staying healthy. I feel like I am preaching, but at the same time, I am not sure standing by and watching the world eat itself into poor health.
This post is not just a Monday rant from me, it actually provides some actually useful information. There are some great projects out there working to get people active while rewarding them with being a part of the Steem community. Hopefully bringing some more attention to them will encourage more people to get involved. Here are the list of the three main projects I am involved with and would welcome any other communities I don't know of or have left out.

Anyone interesting in running, fitness and health, the running project is a great place to start. The channel provides a great avenue to post running related articles, including status updates on your daily/weekly activity, race reports or any other running related information. @runburgundy is the best name on steemit!
yep, agreed
That's high praise!
Thanks for bringing these together in one post. I agree that there are grave concerns about health - diabetes is one and dementia is another. Both of these can be prevented through life style changes: be more active and eat well. Looking after your mental health and getting plenty of sleep help, too.
You're 100% right, and I don't understand why people don't see the consequences. Once your sick it is so much harder to then change things around for yourself.
Keep spreading the word.
