A rather elevated jungle run
When you run in Chiang Mai with us there is always a chance that the Hares may decide to make the trail hilly and that as the case this past week. It is up to the Hares how they are going to do things and certain Hares are rather well-known for making trails go up and down as much as possible. Well this week's trail run didn't have a lot of ups and downs but it did have a consistent up and a consistent down that had many of our legs screaming by the time we got back.
This run took place almost entirely in the jungle and it was a lot of fun... well, unless you hate hill climbs. This chart might be a little difficult to read but you can see how the elevation went steadily up and stayed that way before sloping back down at the end.
Normally, when a trail ends up having a 60 meter incline included in it the hares will have mercy on us by having the overall distance of the trail run be shorter but not these guys. Despite being a rather brutal incline run, they still kept us out there for nearly 8 km. Most of our runs are only around 5km. This is something you need to be prepared for and the estimated run length is announced at the beginning of the run. Since most people carry phones or some sort of analytical device with them these days you can always turn around and head back to camp any time you want. You should feel bad if you do this and don't have a disability though because "TipToe" finished this one and he walks with the assistance of a cane!
Others can choose to opt out for a more cool environment to lie down in while they wait for the others to return, such as this dolt.
He pleased us all by having trunks on when he was in there at least.
So just keep in mind that when you are joining us that some of our trails are going to be tougher than others but this is all announced at the beginning of every run so there are no surprises mid-trail. Well, that is of course dependent on whether or not you decide to listen to the pre-run briefing which many people simply ignore.
We are still doing 3 runs per week here in Chiang Mai, feel free to join us. New members and visitors are welcome. Full details are available at our official website
