Mind Space Prisons on the CW: The 100 6.8 and Agents of SHIELD 6.6

[SPOILER ALERT! Careful... minor spoilers from BOTH episodes below]

These two mind spaces aired on the CW in the same week. The first on Marvel's Agents of SHIELD and the latter on the dysopian show The 100. Maybe a coincidence, but one can't help but compare the two anyway, especially as 'Inescapable' was one of Agents of SHIELD's best episodes ever (if I say so myself) and 'Nevermind' brought back not one, not two, but three long gone characters of the 100.

On both shows, the mind spaces were created by technology. And on both shows, the form of the mind space was determined by the state of mind of those in it. However, Agents of Shield's was more... dynamic, changing form over and over again depending on the current thoughts and emotions of Fitz and Simmons. That was the nature of the Chronicon's tech, bestowing the ability to create things out of imagination. Clarke's mind space was fixed in it's organization, though comprised of elements and places from different stages in her life. Each stage came with a person-- her father, Maya, Octavia in her Bloodreiner role, and Monty as she remembers him: young and hearty. The persons who show up all reresent different parts of her own psyche, her conflicting feelings and philosophies. On Agents of SHIELD though, the persons who show up are creations from their fears and memories, except for the Doctor and the Jemma-Demon, two entities which represented both characters' bad sides. The biggest difference between both Mind Spaces though was the separation of the minds. Fitz and Simmons' minds were seamlessly fused into one. Clarke's and Josephine's were separated by a door.

Since actual 'Mind Spaces' aren't a thing (yet!), it might be fun to wonder which would end up being more accurate were they to be real. If you were trapped in your mind, what would it look like?

Anyways, the biggest similarity? Both episodes were awesome. After Nevermind, viewers can't wait to see what happens next to our relentless survivors with the revelation that Clarke is still alive. And Inescapable? One of the best Agents of SHIELD has given us, like I said before. As to the uncanny coincidence, your guess is as good as mine. Any conspiracy theories are welcome. The CW's got some explaining to do!
