When the LORD spoke these words through his prophet Isaiah:

"Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.

It was not only a rhetorical question, it had a dual fulfillment!

Not only was it fulfilled in the return of the Jews from the Babylonian captivity but "literally" the modern state of Israel was birthed in a single day on May 14, 1948. On that day, the independent state of Israel was proclaimed as British rule in Palestine came to an end.
