I think the guy should hustle and be focused on his education. Let things play out. If the girl is really in love with him, she will defy her parents wish to marry the rich and wait. He may think he is still in school and have no job? Does he know God's plan for him? Even while schooling, he said his friend's father has helped him handle one or two jobs. Who knows he could land a better job where he will now need to school par time.
Lastly, if it happens that the girl pick up the responsibility that are due him, let him not feel he has sold his pride it is temporary.
