Brooklyn (Bushwick, specifically) is being remolded by Blockchain companies. Over the last couple years, hundreds of aspiring crypto-preneurs have taken to Bushwick for the unusual purpose of developing new technology for decentralizing and democratizing the globe. For some reason, this neighborhood has become a hotspot for protocol debates in deli lines and Ethereum escapades inside reclaimed warehouses.

100 Bogart is at the center of it all. This multi-use building complex sits in the heart of Bushwick and is crafting some major influence over the blockchain landscape in New York City. The workspace is host to dozens of companies and startups related to blockchain, including @sndbox and The Crypto Renaissance exhibition.

The Crypto Renaissance

As we approach one full year of operations, we at 100 Bogart have had the pleasure of watching our members develop and expand their companies in new and innovating spaces. One of our longest standing members, Sndbox, unveiled its highly anticipated exhibit, "The Crypto Renaissance", in our gallery space on July 20th. The mission behind "The Crypto Renaissance" is to showcase the variety of creative applications leveraging the Steem blockchain and how these applications have integrated into the daily routine of Sndbox members.

Before diving into the contents of the exhibit, meet the founders responsible for the realization of this project: Mike and Kirk. Combining their backgrounds in architecture and design with emerging blockchain technology, Mike and Kirk birthed the idea of Sndbox. Mike, Kirk, and the rest of the Sndbox team aim to advise and educate those who are willing to embrace the power of blockchain technology. All of the projects on display in "The Crypto Renaissance" graduated from the Sndbox incubator!

Upon entrance to the gallery space, the layout of the exhibit may remind you of a blockchain-infused science fair. Instead of poster-boards designed with sharpie markers, the walls were covered with captivating graphics describing various artistic and philanthropic Steem-powered projects. The centerpiece of the whole exhibit, a nine-foot structure named "DApp Tower", featured social apps such as a cryptocurrency crowdfunding platform (Fundition) and a decentralized video platform (DTube).

The opening day was a huge success with a turnout of over one hundred people! Just like the nature of the Steem blockchain, the exhibit was very interactive, displaying QR codes that linked to websites and creator profiles. The DApp Tower even had a built-in selfie station that uploaded pictures to a photo-sharing app called Steepshot, which lets people earn cryptocurrency just by sharing their life and engaging with the community. Although the exhibit may look intimidating to some, "The Crypto Renaissance" is intended as an educational event for all.

As Bushwick is transforming into a hotbed of blockchain companies, we at 100 Bogart are thrilled to host events that further the development of groundbreaking technology. The exhibit will be open Wednesday-Saturday from 12pm-6pm until August 15th. Congratulations to the Sndbox team on a great opening day!

What's The Crypto Renaissance? - This month-long exhibition showcases the tools and resources built for creative professionals on the Steem blockchain and specifically how @sndbox members have integrated them into their practice and daily work. The exhibition will be open to all visitors for several weeks and serve as a free and public space for New Yorkers and others to learn about the Steem blockchain, the world of crypto, and immediately begin converging their creative work with the Steem ecosystem.
