Poem / Burnt Out
Burnt Out
Taking a long walk down this short road
It was cold and raining
The air sounded by croaks of toads
The afternoon was dark
Clouds blocking every ray of sun
Not allowing anything to look more upbeat than glum
There was no hope in his eyes
As he walked past twenty or so streetlights
He was soaked to the bone
Knocking from time to time trying to find his home
There was nothing left
Just him and his bare, bleeding skin
He wondered from street to street
Looking for a place he could rest his feet
The inner of his soul
Had turned to the ash of a fast burnt coal
He had been destroyed by her
Nothing left after the raging fire
There was just an empty space
Which nothing could replace
He had turned to the bottle
He had tried twisting the throttle
He tried everything to forget
He couldn't change the way things went
He couldn't change the way things are
He only had a bit of time left
To try and realign his stars
