National Park "Sierra Nevada" State Merida - Venezuela
The Sierra Nevada is the second national park to be decreed in Venezuela. At the high Andean summits shared by Merida state and the Barinas state, thirsty rivers are born that travel long and narrow valleys and then irrigate the vast plains of the Maracaibo basin and the plains basin.
The park covers a large area and a variety of ecosystems, due to the variation of temperature and humidity of the climates of low, medium and high mountain. These climatic conditions shelter a varied vegetation cover within which live species of plants and animals that make this park the most diverse of the country.
