Short Introduction to Mental Ninjistics - Dealing with Conflict

in #philosophy6 years ago (edited)

What can I say? - I absolutely loved the interaction on my last video and I enjoyed very much the criticism to some of the points I brought up.

The common theme, or the common concern among some of my fellow steemians was that conflict and disagreements are artificially avoided, to the detriment of honesty. I think the concern here is quite valid, it does seem to be somewhat true, however, I think there are a couple of conflating thought proceses blurring some lines.

On this short vlog I'm trying to explain my philosophical ideas behind mind ninjistics and dealing with conflict and disagreements. Of course I'm biased, but I believe that the approach has merit.

I would like however, to hear what you guys think about it? Does this make sense to you?

Much love

Wow. Mind ninja. I want to be a mind ninja, no question about it. That is a phenomeno story!

I always figured it's best to keep poking holes with questions and see if they budge. They keep plugging them but if you're right, one of these days you'll sink the other ship. And if you're wrong.... Well sometimes the other ship sinks regardless and then it's you're fault. Ok wtf am I talking about now, but I'll leave it because it's amusing. Just the way my mind works.

Cheers mind ninja.

Eon bro.. don't flag me with your whale account...

But we just start the Mind Ninja Dojo...

What say ye?

Hi meno. A mind ninja or a crazy walrus. I think both have there merits depending on who the disagreement is with and what it is about.

When I see someone trying to be a walrus.. I'm not interested in debating - because it's not a debate at all.

But i know what you mean.

I tend to take my time over answers and don't just jump in so I don't do the Walrus very often. Maybe maturity has stepped in.

I loved that childhood story.
What a magical turn around! Definitely mental ninjistics.
I have a bully story from another perspective.
Gosh! I went to 11 different schools in 3 different states so I was always the ‘new pretty boy’ and I was a short arse with golden curls (said in Aussie accent). The girls would like me and I’d like them back and then the school bully would pick a fight with me. Every single school. All I wanted was to be accepted and liked like any new kid wants. I didn’t want to have to fight someone, but alas, that is what would transpire. The thing was, I was brought up on martial arts (thank gaaaawd) and unlike school bullies, who’d generally pick fights with small, weak, scared kids, I was forced to fight often and by virtue of necessity, I got good at it. So inevitably I would beat the school bully up. And then the new rule was that there were no bullies allowed.
But because I hated fighting I developed a new technique to avoid fighting, which I guess was a type of mental ninjistics, as you describe. When a fight was about to occur the whole school would surround the kids about to fight. I realised that they were an impromptu audience that I could perform to (instead of fight in front of). So whilst the bully would try to pick a fight with me I would just make joke after joke and crack everyone up laughing.
It was so much fun.
Oh the jokes that would come out! Hilarious!
And being a boy, I’d often dispel the whole situation by cocking my leg up and actually farting on the bully who would run off saying “aw you stink!” Everyone would be rolling on the floor laughing. Situation over. Hahahahaha...

Sometimes though, the situation comes in such surprising, shocking way from people we don’t expect that out minds get frozen and instead of mental ninjistics we can slip into some kind of mental spastics (for want of a better term). Lol!

Anyway, thought provoking video. Thanks bro. Nice to come back to Steemit to this.
Blissful blessings

hahahahah i love it Nathan... I have to say I've never resorted to jokes for mental ninjistics, but I will try to implement it next time!

You are not alone in all that bully stuff, let's travel back to my childhood

I was bullied by 2 kids each 10 years old when I was 6 years old and had no friends, no one wanted to play with me, I was alone with no friends for 1 whole years, came home crying every afternoon after school and my mother decided to change me to a Catholic school...

I changed schools and the bullying kept going, this time instead of 2 guys there were 6 or 7 of them, I was 7 by this time, after winter brake I don't know what happened something clicked and I decided to be the bully instead so I started beating up other kids, I wasn't alone, I actually had 2 friends that joined me...

After some months a teacher came to the three of us and told us she had a lot of complaints about us, she asked my classmates to raise their hands if they were ever bullied by us and almost everyone rose their hands, she told us that instead of bullying other people we should protect them... well, something clicked that day and I decided to change... all my classmates got protection from the three of us and we never bullied them again... we actually protected them from the other bullies... to this day I'm a very calm guy that doesn't like fighting unless it is absolutely necessary! It also helps that i take out all my anger in the gym :P

I'm a very honest person even on steemit, if i disagree with someone i tell them why, we have a discussion, if after some minutes we can't agree on something i just say: "Ok, let's agree to disagreee" and that is it...

And this comment almost turned into a full blown post, sorry for that :P Just wanted to share my story and how that teacher ninja raped my mind to make me realise i was doing something bad, looking at all my classmates with their hands up in the air wasn't something i liked very much

Yes.. you got chopped by a mind ninja!! hahahah i love the story!! - I relish on stories, so anytime you feel like sharing one, please do so.

I love the mind ninja story. I hope you don't mind if I steal your term and use it sometimes, cos it's great lol.

But surely you could only be mind ninjaed as a kid cos you wanted to be a good person, and bullying is a pretty cut and dried bad thing, so you could be talked out of it.

Most issues aren't so simple, you can see it this way or that way. And so often people invest a LOT of their identity in a viewpoint, so even trying to discuss the this way and that way of a thing will just annoy them. Mostly, if I think a person is touchy about a thing, I would just keep my mouth shut.

Unless I want a deep relationship with that person. Then I'm gonna have to learn to be a mind ninja lol.
