Are we fighting for freedom again now?
In the past, countries around the world were fighting for their independence from colonies, but it seems these days, everyone is fighting for personal independence. Possibly, each of us is a freedom fighter from birth or the current technology drives us all this way.
I am not smart enough to answer many questions that I raise; I can merely ask. I just hope we can find answer together here.

@digitalist, what's the significance of the photo? I am not sure of the connection between your writing and the baby with her mother?
Freedom fighter from birth, it is just an idea.
And most of the colonies around the World that became independent turned out to be very inefficient states, corrupt countries, and in many cases, even completely failed states, overrun by dictators, religious fanatism, drug cartels, etc. Today, many people leave these former-colonies-now-independent-states to go live in the developed countries.
Have you traveled recently? Most of the world is developed now. War is at an all time low compared to the 90s let alone the turbulent decades prior. People are still coming to the USA, but that will always be the case thanks to Hollywood. Movies will always make the USA look like a paradise while the reality is much less appetizing for recent immigrants.
I am sure the world is being bedeviled by greed. Too many bright minds unused or have abused their powers. All seem to compete to overule themselves unsuccessfully. China is taking over the world at least starting from Africa to South East Asia.
